Torn to see that there will no longer be an EA Sports NCAA football game ever again with the settlement today with former players. While I agree that players deserved compensation, more from the NCAA than from EA Sports, its a game that as a sports fan was always top of my list to get. Out of all this, F the lawyers as they will likely make the most money out of this than anyone else.
Would much rather play dynasty NCAA than Madden, mainly for the recruiting aspect that the NCAA version always had. Really tough that there wont be at least one version of this game for the new PS4 as I was excited to see what the new console would have added to the game.

I just wish they had added the playoff as an option in this years game... thats all I would have looked for next year anyways.
It will really just bug me that moving forward if I ever want to play as Tech again, I will have to keep the PS3 somewhere safe since there wont be an NCAA option for PS4.
I know same dilema.
I just dont like Madden nearly as much as NCAA, I dont know if the game-play is different, something feels different, and the recruiting took a really big step the last season of NCAA, its addicting to say the least...
Revive 989 Sports' Gamebreaker!
Ha ha, I had that for the PS1. I got 20 sacks a game and blocked every punt in every game with Corey Moore.
I doubt the NCAA will risk having another game ever again with what they will likely be forced to pay out to this lawsuit. Is it possible to bankrupt the NCAA (we know they are already there morally)?
Lets not be Naive fellas. There is way too much money to be made for a college football game to not exist. It may be a couple of years but it will happen.
It'll just be generic, and they'll get Key and Peele to name all the players on all the teams
Dang.
And East West 2, with Virginia Tech product Cartoons Plural
We've already discussed the issue before. EA sports will almost certainly still come out with a game next summer, possibly called "College Football 15" or similar. It won't have the NCAA logo or any direct references to the NCAA organization, and there are rumors of a handful of individual conferences pulling out, but most conferences and teams will likely still license out their names. While there will be minor differences, including a few less teams and possibly some fictional conferences and bowl games, it'll still be functionally the same game.

Nvm, just saw a news article about it, says EA has announced they're dropping it for at least next year. I'd still be willing to bet that it'll be back in 2015 in some form or another, there is too much money in play.
You are right about the money aspect, before this season, EA Sports was paying out the highest amount of money to the NCAA for any non clothing manufacturer. EA Sports did announce that they are dispersing their staff for this game to other programs so that makes me think it may be more than one year gone but I guess we will see.
Yes, this a beyond dead thread, but that makes what EA just posted on their NCAA Football Facebook page all the more applicable. Unfortunately, the embed code doesn't work right, so here's the link.

EDIT: They have since edited the post to add the caption "Our heart still beats for the big game... #NationalChampionship." Maybe they are trying to cover it all up, or maybe someone just slipped up a little bit trying to stir the pot.
I don't, for one second, believe this to be the reason they posted for the first time in a year and a half.
It's a weird play. If they wanted to keep a reboot under wraps they shouldn't have posted anything at all, but they're still playing coy about it even after they posted that gif.
Get your shit together EA.
Awesome. Hopefully that means something is in the works!
If EA isn't going to bring it back I wish Microsoft would at least make it backwards compatible for the Xbox One. It's literally the only reason I still have my 360 at this point.
#sauces
They're running a promo during the game tonight to announce a new game possibly this fall
Still unsure why they don't just get the license to the school logos, uniforms, stadiums, ect. (I think they have this through next season IIRC). And randomize the players, make them all generic, numbers, positions, ect and have the community source the rosters for realism. The community would do it. It'd be excellent and seems like a loophole. Take the Madden 16 build and the game is already great.
I have no background in law or video game making.
I have to say though that one of the reasons I loved NCAA Football was because it played differently than Madden. Maybe it was the more arcade style or fast paced play but Madden feels really slow to me now. Maybe I'm just weird but I'd hope they'd continue keeping the two separate.
Madden is too in-depth with too many little nuances to each play to address while playing. It has taken out the element of just trying to have fun and really emphasizes the need to have an in-depth knowledge of the game to be successful.
NCAA Football was just great as a pick up and play.
Thank you for putting into words what I could not
I had a friend recently tell me that they had resolved the legal issue and would start making new ones again but I couldn't find anything of the sort.
Ehh, O'Bannon at least got ruled on and the Appeals Court even made it more of a slight NCAA win.
But it wasn't the only case, and even now the case could go to the Supreme Court
From CBS Sports a bit ago
I never actually expected another NCAA game, but it would have been awesome to dream. I have a ton of good memories with EA NCAA. I'll never forget lining up for the midnight release at Gamestop in Cburg and everyone there was wearing Hokie gear talking football and gaming....knowing full damn well that everyone in line was going to stay up all night playing.
just release the game with fake names and every number as 00!!! I would still buy and play... sigh....
Kirk Herbstreit with a rant about Ed O' Bannon and the loss of this game....

It is unfortunate that the players aren't compensated for their likeness(es?) being included in a game but at the same time companies sell jerseys with everything but the player's name on the back of them and profit off of those.
If I was a player that got featured in a video game (no matter how good/bad I was) I'd probably be pretty pumped. I mean some of the most popular modes in sports games are the create-a-player modes where you can make yourself into a star.
Apparently former WVU running back Shawne Laston was a big protestor when it came to the NCAA Football games, after he got out of college. Another reason to dislike WVU football.
Who?
he was the guy that everyone that played with WVU would rearrange their depth chart just so they didn't have to use him
Yea, being featured in a game was always something they looked forward too. Heck they still talk about missing it.
One question I had is what would happen if the band tried to sue? They use the bands music and when I was in the Pride, they recorded us at the Peach Bowl in 03 (just ignore the game ever happened) to put on the game.
Well since you were in the band would you want to be compensated or would you be happy that you got to contribute to a video game? You get your work out there for a ton of people to hear while they're playing so it's a little bit of free advertising.
On the other hand I could see them compensating the school/maybe the band directly since they are essentially paying for a music track to be in the game.
Heck Id play on every song for them for free if they wanted, as long as they bring back the game. I realize it's not the same level, as they work much harder, but they're also given a lot more than other people already. I always wondered if they could work it out to give each player a copy of the game or something.
Only If they allow us to slip "Stick It In" back in the music rotation when we get inside the 10 yard line.
I uploaded an MP3 of Stick It In to my PS and set it to play after every 3rd down conversion. Sadly there wasn't a red zone trigger. I did the same for Enter Sandman for kickoffs.
I'd finally buy a PS4, if they ever release a new NCAA Football game.
Is it just me or does Madden just not do it for you too?
I just end up simming entire seasons, I cant put my finger on what it is.
Dynasty is just way better. More roster turnover keeps it fresh, more teams to play, conference realignment, recruiting players, building god awful teams into powerhouses, the list goes on. Also Madden gameplay is slower and more nuanced (which makes it feel less like football)
I've been thinking about just buying NCAA 14 again. Just so I can play a college game again. I'm sure someone has updated the rosters to the current teams.
They are out there. I have some buddies and we have the online dynasty going. We started with the rosters from this past season (they were put out well before the season). Holland Fisher is a badass Whip and McMillian is like 4th string.
If I get it, do y'all have room in the online dynasty?
I've got a dynasty still going in the year 2045. Frank Beamer is 98 years old, VT is in the SEC, and UVA still sucks.
HAHA that's awesome!
I'm in year 2026 LOLUVA hasn't had a winning season yet, even with three former VT coordinators leaving and going to coach there.
Wow. They're just that bad.
For a stretch I picked up Scot Loeffler as OC. Had to laugh when I saw that come across the carousel. Bud Foster left for a HC gig after my second year.
Loeffler was my OC then went to LOLUVA then USCw, Bud Foster didn't have his contracted renewed after 5 years and became DC at Bama then HC at UGA.
Thats the one thing I didnt like,
You can advise the kids to stay and not go to the draft, but you cant advise a coordinator to stay.
And why doesn't the computer AD ask me who to hire or whether or not to renew Bud Fosters contract!?!
Exactllyyyy
"Bud Foster has taken the UVA job"
- AGAIN!?? UGhhh well -delete- this dynasty.
Y'all have to stop bumping this thread. You're killing me with anticipation.
I know! I keep expecting to see some new update on the game every time I click! It's driving me crazy! Every single person should stop contributing to this noise!
