Hooker: "(I) fell in love with the campus"

The Greensboro News & Record's article about Hendon Hooker's commitment to Virginia Tech has some excellent quotes from Hendon and his coach. These are three that caught my eye.

"I took my visit to Blacksburg last week and fell in love with the campus," Hooker said. "Coach Fuente is a really down-to-earth guy and made me feel at home."

"It just clicked," he said during a news conference at Dudley's media center. "I felt comfortable in their stadium. I felt comfortable talking with Coach Fuente. Everything was fantastic on my visit."

"He's got all the tools," (head coach Steven) Davis said. "I've had Ricky Lewis, who was more of a running back playing quarterback. I've had Emmanuel Moseley, who was just an outstanding athlete. I had Howard Williamson when I first got here who was more of a drop-back, pure passer. Hendon is a combination of all of them. He runs the ball well. He drops back well. He's an outstanding athlete."

Last week was a very good week to fall in love with the campus. Hard to beat the fall around here, but the first warm and sunny week of the spring is always amazing around campus.

On that first, warm spring day, if you aren't walking by the beach, you aren't doing it right

I assume you mean Slusher Beach.

Unless they trucked in sand for the edge of the Duck Pond. Which could be fun.

the numbers don’t lie and they spell disaster

yes, nothing says spring like choking on the methane released from tons of duck and fish shite.

All of the honeys sunbathing on the quads on the first warm spring day is a pretty nice sight as well.

The first warm weekend in Bburg can be a shock to a young man's senses.

This thread title could very well be interchanged with the Louisville basketball forums without batting an eye. All jokes aside, pretty excited that Fuente is establishing the "down to earth" appeal that Frank used so often in his recruiting glory days.

Just to clarify: the paper this is from is the Greensboro News & Record.

I actually realized after seeing his "helmet off" photo that I know this kid from random interactions in the community. Seen him around a few times, and the couple of times that I've noticed, he's shown a really positive personality. I don't really follow local football so I had no idea he was a star on the field.

Remember that joke from a while back:
"What's the difference between UVA and Tech?" "Tech's only got one Beamer"

The updated version:
