He's going to be in the 2 deep at DT before too long. I will be shocked if he gets red-shirted. I don't know of many people that don't look small next to MANBEARPIG and he does NOT look small

Wyat Teller is the second coming of Nick Acree except with actual football IQ and ability. This to me is one of the most exciting things I'll bee keeping an eye on.

It may just be me but I really hope he gets a shot at DE as well as DT. I know we need depth at DT but if we get NNadi and Walker I hope he moves to DE.

The staff seems very willing to move people around this year to get playmakers on the field. I think he has a much better shot of playing at DT this year so that's what they are doing and then figuring out next year later. Beamer's made a few comments that point to him changing from the auto-redshirt that he used to believe in. I think Wyatt can be special no matter where he lines up.

I don't think too big is a concern if he can still be quick. If they bulk him up with DT weight then next year might not be plausible if he loses too much speed. Look at some of the DE's in 4-3s in the pros and other major programs. They range from 260-290. JJ Watt was a beast at 290 in a 4-3 in college.
I would think if they decide to keep him at DT, he will be a ridiculously solid 290-300lb DT by next fall.

I hope he doesn't get a redshirt this year. Even if he doesn't play a single snap on defense, I hope he's wreaking havoc on pride and joy. I don't think he'll be here anymore than 4 years, so getting him on the field in any capacity seems worth it to me.

I want him on the field immediately. I get a sense this guy has high IQ so we need him on the field now! Wyatt the riot! A healthy diet of Wyatt! Wyatt Earp! Teller the propeller! Don't even try it Wyatt! Remember that scene from The Program when the roided up defensive end ran around the parking lot smashing his head through car windows after he found out he was starting? Thats what this guy reminds me of....I too have a big man crush.

We definitely need him to be the first player off of the bus for every away game, simply for intimidation. When we landed Nick Acree CFB said that even if he didn't play he wanted to use him for that exact role, looks like we have someone to replace him in that capacity.

"Well, we're going to walk him out to the coin flip regardless with a chain around his neck, going, 'Arr! Arr! Arr!'" -VT Coach Charley Wiles, on being asked about Nick Acree's role against Boise State in the season opener

Hand isn't being a dick. We don't offer his major simple as that. Foster was always his favorite coach but not offering his major did us in. Wish him luck wherever he ends up

Stated this in other threads but there's no way I'm buying this. You mean a "marketing" major while playing football at a major D1 program doesn't offer enough connections to get into the "sports" variety of marketing? An undergrad degree in sports marketing is going to have the exact same basic concepts/classes as the standard marketing degree for the most part (up until at least junior year, if not more, I'd suspect).
I think the kid was being polite when he offered that as the reason for not choosing Tech and probably decided he wanted to go out of state. That's perfectly fine as well, but I don't buy the whole "don't offer his major" thing at all.

Yeah, the idea that a top 5 recruit nationally (or any recruit, for that matter) would eliminate a school based solely on a minor difference in a potential field of study is ridiculous. Hand didn't want to come to Virginia Tech, but I'd bet a lot of money that the lack of a sports marketing major wasn't the deciding factor.

He very well may have been giving a smoke reason as to why he didn't want to come here. I was upset about it and it sucks, but I don't think chastising and 17 year old kid because he doesn't want to come here is really called for.
It's recruiting, for all we know, after the season starts, he falls back in love with Foster and his #1 ranked D, sees Teller mash, that Nnadi and Walker committed, and #decadeofdominance and then decides to become a Hokie.

True true. Still no need in calling a recruit a dick or anything. If a kid doesn't want to be a Hokie then I don't want them to be. Free up that scholly for a kid that truly wants to be a part of our family and tradition.

For the record I'm also not for calling any recruits dicks or bashing them in a public forum or social media or whatever. That's over the line and only reflects badly on Virginia Tech as fans and perceived representatives of the school. I'll add that I personally think it's a little ridiculous that fanbases even follow high school kids on twitter, but I guess I've seen where kids are impressed but how much "love" they get on social media. Whatever floats everyone's boat I suppose.

Completely agree. Hand is not a "dick" because he currently doesn't want to attend Virginia Tech. From what I've gathered, he is actually a very mature high school kid.

I told him on twitter to spare us the crocodile tears. He knew VT didn't have his major from day 1. What he did to VT was no different in my mind from what Andrew Brown did.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Actually his major was engineering early on. Then he switched. I'm not saying he couldn't handle it - but engineering is hard, especially when you're putting in a ton of time on the field. His top priority is football, not studies, and sports marketing is probably a little easier.
And what did Andrew Brown do?

As excited about kendall fuller as I am. Teller is the guy I'm the most excited about in that class. Think he should have been a 5 star and has the potential to be an absolute monster. As good as he can be on the oline (French) it would give me all of the sads to see us possibly lose a monster on the dline

eh...I'll probably get de-turkey legged for this but I watched him in the U.S. Army All-American game and while he was definitely the most badass looking on the field, his play didn't really stand out to me. Hopefully he proves me wrong at VT, though.

I hope he has a younger brother.
I hope he doesn't have a younger sister
I'm not sure I get this. If he has a younger sister, just don't get her drunk and you'll be fine.
I wouldn't want to line up across from him. Jeez.
That's why no one will remember your name
-Achilles
+1 That movie and the series "24" got me through my Iraq deployment in 2005. Good for me, not so good for the locals!
it would be cool if Box could put WT's head on the giant Thessalian's body, but it didn't really turn out so well for him.
Couldn't find right angle for Thessalian so went another way.
His arms look a little small.
I have that clip. Waiting for the right game to GIF it.
I would be remembered for the wrong reasons.

This may have escaped the attention of everyone else, but Teller is a gigantic human being.
He's a stud. I think I have my new man-crush
I'd agree, but my heart has already been stolen forever by Jeff Grimes.
His eyes.......they....they pierce my soul!
It may just be me but I really hope he gets a shot at DE as well as DT. I know we need depth at DT but if we get NNadi and Walker I hope he moves to DE.

He's already too big for DE in Foster's system. I think he's around 270 or so. By next year, I'd be shocked if he wasn't significantly bigger.
I don't think too big is a concern if he can still be quick. If they bulk him up with DT weight then next year might not be plausible if he loses too much speed. +1 for The Program reference...
STARTING DEFENSE! PLACE AT THE TABLE!
dont even try it wyatt gets my vote
Looks like a first round offensive tackle in that picture. I think French would agree.
he looks like he is about to explode out of that XXL!
Yep, glad we landed him.
This is why Bud did cartwheels
He appears to also have a touch of Bieber Fever... hmmmm

Also, might be more similar to the bryce harper cut

I doubt he stands on the sidelines or sits in the stands this year. Call me crazy.
every time i look at a picture of him, i chuckle and say to myself "good lord he's massive"
(insert that's what she said joke here)
damn, we get those crazy NY Giant d-linemen facemasks now?
Well, few better NFL teams to emulate. They win Super Bowls.
He will absolutely be in the rotation on the DL this season!
Bud doesn't cartwheel for just anybody. Too bad Da'Shawn Hand had to be a party pooper. Would have loved to have seen what Bud did when he committed.
Easy killer. I think calling Hand a dick is a bit unwarranted and besides, a hand can't be a dick.

haha nice edit

I'm going off of more from people in know that have seen him play in person and film more than that aa game. And the aa practice reports
Give him a break, at one point he was a UVA lean and spent a good amount of time around that program. Give that some time to wear off. He'll be fine.
I see the "Tellernator" going into seek-and-destroy mode against all in his way

Can he run like a deer? If so blitz him every down!
Wyatt "I PICK THINGS UP AND PUT THEM DOWN" Teller
Andy Bitter provided a link to this forum in his latest blog post. I am a rock star!
don't know why people down voted you for this. Congrats. I thought it was cool too. +1 for you to even it out a bit.
