Unfortunately, this story doesn't have the happiest of endings as Kevin Everett, the Miami player who dropped the ball, broke his spine trying to make a tackle on special teams while playing for the Buffalo Bills in 2007. He was able to eventually walk again, albeit with limited mobility, but he's certainly had a rough spell.

He's not even an eligible receiver!!!! he's the third guy from the end of the line, the guy on the end is off the line. The 2nd guy is the "Tight End."
This guy is an offensive tackle. No shit, he's open. You know why? We. Don't. Cover. Offensive. Linemen!

I think the intent there is for an unbalanced line, with 3 OL and a TE to the offense's right and only 1 OL and a TE to the left.
so TE-LG-C-RG-LT-RT-TE
then two "WR" out wide left off the LOS to not cover up the TE who goes deep, Everett
The problem is that they didn't line up correctly, basically if Everett was on the LOS, so was the guy outside of him, making him ineligible. They were lined up at the same depth. And Everett had to be on the LOS, otherwise they've got an illegal formation with only 5 or 6 men on the line.

The best, forgotten part, of this is he should have been flagged for illegal man downfield (even if he'd caught the ball). He was an interior lineman on the play.
Edit- totally sucks about the injury later.

I know I said some bad things last week (I mean some really, really bad things). But you knew I'm a passionate person when we started this.
Anyway, I hope we can put that behind us, because I love you again. I swear I'll be better. Please take me back. You can even pick the movie and I'll buy you the big popcorn.

I went to a show with Michael Showalter and Michael Ian Black here in Richmond a few years ago. When Michael Ian Black came out people started yelling out lines from The State, but none of them were lines he had anything to do with. Then following exchange happened:
Audience Member: "I wanna dip my balls in it!"
Michael Ian Black: "I too, enjoyed that skit that I wasn't in."
Different Audience Member: "Why don't you go talk to some fish."
Michael Ian Black: (nodding slightly in defeat)
FWIW, Michael Showalter came out first and was enjoyable and funny in a charmingly dorky sort of way. Michael Ian Black was insufferable. He would literally say a sentence, then look at his watch, then look at a clock on the wall, and sigh. Rather rinse repeat. He then spent over half of his set talking back and forth with some women near the front who wouldn't shut up. As the exchange kept going on you could here the audience growing impatient. You could tell that he was stalling and just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. I may have chuckled slightly once near the end, but other than that, his performance was just brutal.

Michael Ian Black is hilarious, but is absolutely not suited to doing stand-up. He's meant to be either a writer for sketch or situation comedy, or an editorialist.

Looking a da U's schedule, they have a serious chance of being in a position of needing to be Duke in their last game, to be bowl eligible (I'm assuming that a W over LOLUVA is automatic).

I don't know how to do much from my phone, so I can't link the article quite yet. But the following quote from the espn article was hilarious to me.
And so the Hurricanes (4-3, 1-3 ACC) will almost certainly go another season without a division title, waiting for that moment when, on some distant date, they will be "back."

Stay woke and get lit FAM! Great game. Love it when the Hokies display what they can do. The fullback-to-fullback touchdown had me going crazy last night!

One I'd love to find is Marcus's block on that Kevin Jones's 83 yard touchdown scamper from 2003. Of course it was against Pitt at Pitt so I don't want to see anything else from that game.

1. Uggh, that music!
2. What do those two games have in common besides Pitt? 95 and 2003? Seems totally random.
3. Druckenmiller was a screen pass throwing machine.
4. Druck almost had a 99 yard TD to Still but he was tripped up on the 10.
5. Kevin Jones was the man.
6. Not included was the incomplete pass to Hamilton in 2003 at the end of the game on 4th down that was clearly pass interference.

What's going to get lost in this gif is McMillian's vision and decision to step around Evans and allow him to make this block instead of cutting inside Elder into the pursuing Miami DL.

Going back and forth? That's no good, get yo self a second screen.
Funny story, I had to listen to the spanish feed for the VT game for a couple of minutes while I got stuff set up. I only understood one sentence "SAM ROGERS MUY EXPLOSIVO!"

I mean, I had them on separate screens, one TV and one tablet. But I can't watch both screens at the same time. Even if they're side by side, I found myself focusing on one for a few minutes, then the other, as the situations in each game warranted.

Fair enough, I tend to be able to switch focus back and forth pretty quickly, but I have years of multi-monitor/multi-screen use. We don't need to do that tonight though. Now let's go book us a trip to Cleveland... That would sound depressing under any other circumstance.

dammit alum, stop injecting humanity into our attempts at schadenfreude
Oh dang I scrolled right past that the first time. Yikes, that's awful. Thanks Alum, happiness = gone

A turkey leg just doesn't suffice for this comment. We need a power up button so I can give this a T-Rex leg.
Da U is back...back to mediocrity!
yay, I can watch ESPN this week
The last 3 weeks
The State will always get a leg from me.
Louie!!!

I hope Evans has a good nights rest so he is ready for his 10 am test tomorrow. At least he doesn't have to worry about the "U" being BAK.
Danny Kanell just said we could beat Clemson in the ACCCG if we played like we did tonight.
We appreciate it, Danny, but let's at least get to Thanksgiving week before we start talking about our chances.
We need to go 1-0 five more times before we worry about that.
WE LIT UP THE U 2NIGHT.
Miami sits BELOW LOLUVA in the standings.
Looking a da U's schedule, they have a serious chance of being in a position of needing to be Duke in their last game, to be bowl eligible (I'm assuming that a W over LOLUVA is automatic).
actually, even in their worst seasons, the Cavs have a history of somehow pulling a win over Miami out of their...repertoire.
We had 8 sacks missing both Ken Ekanem and Nigel Williams.
What the hell are these fam threads? I don't get it
I believe they're

Celebration threads. But with more hip terminology.
I don't know how to do much from my phone, so I can't link the article quite yet. But the following quote from the espn article was hilarious to me.

Love the username.
FAM RISE AND SHINE! Evan's serving some breakfast this morning!!
We were going nuts in the stands when this happened. Top 5 gif ever now.
Reminds me of this gem:

Never mind. Found it. 3:34 in this video for any young'ns here.
Hokies-Pitt
LOL, that was fun. A few thoughts:
I wondered about the split in years myself. Not sure exactly why they did that.
"Excuse me, men are playing football over here"
What's going to get lost in this gif is McMillian's vision and decision to step around Evans and allow him to make this block instead of cutting inside Elder into the pursuing Miami DL.
He definitely hit that right joystick at the perfect time
WE CAN BE BEAT ON GRASS!
Fam... I'm sporting a Top 5 Work Hangover of my 'adult' life today but
I was there all day long. Thursday night games in Blacksburg are something special and everything was just right in the world yesterday.
The hype train may have gone off the tracks, but where we're going, we don't need tracks (just rails).
We can clinch a World Series birth in game 6 in Chicago. Oh shit, wrong fam thread from last night. This was lit AF too. LAST NIGHT WAS SO DAMN LIT!!!
Me going back and forth between VT/Miami and the NLCS:

Going back and forth? That's no good, get yo self a second screen.

I usually run three screens: tablet, laptop, and tv. You get used to it. It's the sound that is tougher to deal with
