The Orlando Sentinel interviewed Robert Porcher IV about his commitment to the Hokies. Interestingly enough he verballed on Sunday, but took a day to announce it.
"I thought it was great. The school was cool, the coaches, the facilities, even the people. I just felt at home. I liked it. I loved it. They also need D-linemen, defensive ends, so it works out perfect for me."
"They like my versatility, like playing end, tackle and nose. They said they could see me playing all positions along the D-line," Porcher said. "They like my speed and of course I gotta get stronger, but yeah, they like me. They said I can do big things for their program.
"After we had met with [head] Coach [Justin] Fuentes we were walking to the car and Coach Wiles [defensive line, Charley] and Coach Scott were standing there and I just walked up and said, 'Coach, I'm committed. I'm coming here.,' and they got all excited."

Is that how we are visiting so many recruits at one time? There are multiple HCJF?
Thanks for the post, and thanks to Porcher for making the smart pick
Whoever thought of "this is home" is a genius.
It really is a great slogan because its so true.
.
After my first year of Grad School at VT, my graduate school advisor was hired to a new position at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. As part of his job offer, any of his graduate students who came with him would get a full scholarship. I wasn't getting a full scholarship at VT and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is considered one of the best, if not the best, civil engineering schools in the country.
.
Don't get me wrong, VT was in top 10 - 20 nationally at the time, but we're talking about a whole new level of academics.
.
Anyways, I was driving on 460 back to school from VTTI; I'm at a stop light and I saw the town, the mountains and the school and it just hits me, this overwhelming feeling that I'm finally home. That this is where I'm suppose to be and that I'm happy here. So I respectfully told my advisor I would be staying at VT and two semesters later, I met my future wife.
.
Now and forever, VT is just always going to feel like home.
Me, it was me.
Right after Whit was hired, he asked me what I liked about VT. I told him when I was 17 yrs old and came to check out the campus it just immediately felt like home. I told him I met my husband at VT, and both my kids are VT graduates. We all said the same thing- this is home!
Later the slogan came out and I asked Whit if he remembered our conversation. He laughed and said no, but I could take credit for it- so there you are!

Just like "Virginia Tech University," they learn sooner than later.
Porcher's dad played in the NFL. They live in Orlando and he goes to Dr. Phillips. That makes complete sense.
Going back to the OT thread about people wanting to move to Florida against all reasonable advice, this is the neighborhood and school that all of the former athletes, celebrities, Nickelodeon celebrities, CEOs, etc. lived in and attended.
