I think it's pretty obvious they want a top 15 match for the Clemson game. The way it's trending, maybe a top 10. I'll take it, but if a loss to Clemson happens we will fall right back to where we started.

The biggest benefit we get from rising up the rankings right now is that a loss to Clemson wouldn't drop us out of the rankings if we're top 15 going in. Win that game to get to 5-0, and we'd almost certainly be top 10 even if we were somehow still unranked going in.
I'm any case, we gotta keep going 1-0 each week. Hopefully the team isn't looking ahead to Clemson, or if they were that the game yesterday cured them of it, because if Delaware can bottle up our offense like that then so can ODU. (I'd say ECU too, but let's be real, ECU couldn't keep Phoebus High School out of the endzone)

ODU scares me possibly more than it should. Or maybe as much as it should. I don't believe in trap games; but if we were going to have one this year, I think that would be it.

Most years we wouldn't rank above them in talent level, but Randy Shannon and Al Golden have shown that just talent alone don't mean shit when it comes to winning games

We beat Clemson, go undefeated, then beat Louisville in the acc championship while Louisville is undefeated. We go in as the #2 playoff seed beat Michigan for, play Oklahoma in the final...there I said it.

There's no way Louisville beats both Clemson and FSU, and considering how closely they played UNC I wouldn't be surprised to see them drop 3 games again this year.

FSU's defense spies jAckson. Louisville doesn't have the horses to compete with their defense this year outside of Lamar Jackson. FSU's defense looks good this year.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate that this is the 6th consecutive poll we've been ranked in, which is twice as long as any other such run we've had since the first loss in 2012 which ended a streak over 2 year long?
I, for one, appreciate the respect that's been shown to us, so soon after our 4 worst seasons since 1992.

A bit overranked but I'll take it. More national exposure is always a good thing.
Five ACC teams in the top 25. VT sits two spots back from the one man band of Louisville, on spot ahead of the perpetually "bak" Miami.
All considered....I'll take it
Curse Avoided!!!
...let's make up T-shirts!
And F-shirts for our friends with 2 arms on the same side!

#17 won yesterday...
One of them did, the other had to evacuate. I'd consider that an extension of the curse.
Remember that the curse bounced back and forth between the 3 polls last year, it wasn't just the AP poll.
Now you're just being silly.
Agreed. Thinking that there's a curse on a ranking number is far more legitimate than thinking the weather is getting involved!
Sorry, I'll let you get back to your important discussions of cake, pie, and Emma Watson.
Much obliged
Actually last year it started in the coaches poll. It didn't hit the AP poll until week 5 or 6. Then it bounced to the CFP poll and never looked back.
Could have sworn there was one week late where it bounced back to one of the voter polls.
We also have two #17s on our team with bright futures
We may have 2 #17s, but we'll have 15 #25s
Total Offense: 52
Total Defense: 119
Week 2 totals not included...will update once available.
I think it's quite evident that special teams has been the most impressive unit in the first two weeks, and pretty easily.
Them field goals will get after you though.
When does the graphic with how everyone voted come out?
My boy Mitch Vingle dropped Notre Dame from 3 to unranked after a home loss to Georgia.
Guess all those high draft picks he thinks they have weren't enough.
I guess that UConn clown with the funny name saw enough out of our uninspiring game to bump us up to 21 from outside the top 25
Shout out to the Hawaiian guy ranking us 12th
edit: And Boise State

I've had a couple classes with one of the safeties on ODUs squad. I've ribbed him several times to not beat Tech
One ahead of the U in the AP poll. Looks like we are also "back"!
For the U, it's that they're bak. Bak because you don't need to c anything to declare it done
Oooh, I c what you did there.
I thought it was because it hasn't yet been 'c'een.
Purely from a talent perspective I wouldn't put us ahead of the U just yet.
Most years we wouldn't rank above them in talent level, but Randy Shannon and Al Golden have shown that just talent alone don't mean shit when it comes to winning games
Yes but this year they've got talent AND coaching.

Honestly I think last year was their ceiling.

I thought you were talking about our Jackson at first... this is getting way too confusing!
Sorry Mrs. Jackson, we know which one is real.
yep, I see what you did there...
Considering Louisville has not fielded a defense in the first 2 games, it'd be amazing if they went undefeated.

We were ranked two weeks in a row last year in the AP: #25 in Week 6 and #17 in Week 7 (the weeks before and after the UNC win).Edit: I can't read.
i watched some of Oregon and Maryland while I was trying to get VT up on my phone...they'll be ranked before long if they keep playing like they are.
With their play, and their recruiting classes..they'll definitely be ranked, sooner than later.
Oregon offense looks good. Maryland is in a tough conference
Does a #16 ranking come with less issues when trying to watch the Hokies via Watch ESPN?
It does this week when you learn that the cbs app has a paywall in front of it for live games
Might be a good time to finally use that CBS All-Access free trial...
Dammit, and I was saving that for Star Trek: Discovery
