Major props to Marshall.

They played one helluva game and had my heart pumping on nearly every play. Cato is a beast and might be the best QB we will face all year. I gained a lot of respect for the Marshall program today. I hope they win the rest of their games.

PS Cato is only a junior. Marshall could be scary good next year with him at the helm. And as always GO HOKIES!

For real. The more I heard about marshall, the more worried I became. Glad the defense stepped up for the final 2 quarters and 3 OT's

Both Marshall and ECU came to play. I think that by seasons end, both of those teams will have 8-9 wins and going to a solid bowl against some B1G or SEC team, who will not take them seriously enough and lose.

There was a day when ECU and Marshall were cake walks. They are not anymore, but I am not sure how many people realize this.

Very true. Someone posted a few weeks back that we should easily be going into ACC play 3-1, but I never bought that. ECU always plays us close and Marshall is very good. Turns out we are 3-1, but I wouldn't call it easy.

Good luck to Marshall through the rest of the season. I was very impressed by the way they played. By the looks of their schedule, they could very well be a conference champion and 9-10 win team.

"Exit light..."

Lots of my friends today were very upset because we were losing to MARSHALL at points during the game and THEY SUCK! Needless to say, they felt better after I told them what was up. Seriously though, glad we won't see Cato again any time soon. Highly unlikely that we'll see a better QB during our regular season.

I get what your saying but I just can't agree. I know Marshall is a good team and Cato is a very accurate passer, but they are not a BCS championship team. For me, VT should be at this level not at Conference USA level. We competed with Alabama and lost. I don't like losing but I love how hard we played in that game. I do not like that we barely beat Marshall and played like shit. I could accept that if it was a conference opponent or another BCS championship level team and we won. I can't accept that ECU and Marshall is competing with us.

I'm not trying to disparage Marshall or ECU who I think are excellent teams with great coaches. I just expect us to be at a higher level than this. I know we are rebuilding as well and that affects our performance greatly but we as a team should not be satisfied by a 3rd overtime win over Conference USA. Justifying it by saying Marshall is a better team than people know doesn't mean we should be satisfied with beating them like we did.

In 2008 we lost to ECU, barely beat Furman and WKU and still ended up winning the ACC. Don't sweat these games too much.

Rip his freaking head off!

Oh I definitely agree with this. My point is that I disagree that Marshall is the caliber team we should be bench marking our satisfaction to winning on. I don't mind ugly wins. I don't care if we win in overtime every time but Marshall is not going to be playing for the championship. I expect us to be playing those type of teams close like this, not Marshall, or we will never get close to filling that empty trophy case.

Don't get me wrong though. I have full confidence in this team. I love the way they play as a team.

Furreal. I used the dregs of my voice box to let every Marshall fan I saw while leaving the stadium know that I thought they played helluva game.

Not the bagman VT deserves, but the bagman VT needs right now.

That's what being a Hokie is about.

Wait... I thought being a hokie was complaining about the "attractiveness" of a win. 1up for both of you.

Returned the favor. Sometimes the ugliest wins are the ones that help the team grow the most.

Hard-fought, gritty wins are Hokie wins.

This game could be much like the Duke 2011 game. Both before GT and everybody predicting GT to win. We all know what happened there. Granted Tech had a bye week to prepare for them that game but still.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Yeah a 3OT game with a short week ahead isn't gonna do us any favors

and of all teams to be playing on a short week. . .

Yup. Though it seemed like we did some GiT prep this past week.

Glad someone posted something about Marshall. I'm sure people who didn't know anything about that team (ESPN), will say, wow VT must not be very good. But that team can play.

I'm glad the Marshall fans sitting around me moved of left at halftime because in the heat if the moment after we won, I might have said something that i would later regret and they didn't deserve that.

Good fan turnout for them too. Wish them nothing but the best for the rest of their season.

Don't forget about Shuler. That was some of the best WR work I've seen in a long time. Kid caught EVERYTHING and most of the time he was very well covered and STILL made the catch. Oh and it was raining. Their WR talent/skills are FAR superior to ours right now.

It was an ugly win, but if we win ugly the next 8 games, we'd be 11-1 and headed to the ACCCG. So, I'm ok with winning ugly.

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

Yes, props to the Marshall program! I don't believe that we'll face as good as a qb for the rest of the regular season. Cato was lights out for them and reminded me a bit of Tyrod in his play. I don't see them losing another game and hope they win out. We should be used to ugly by now and ugly will stay with us likely for a while.
