I was thinking earlier about which win over UVA was the most satisfying. I think 2011 is the best, but second to that I couldn't decide which of the last four were the most satisfying. The 2014 win was satisfying because they were favored coming into the game and led until Bucky saved us. The next year, 2015, was Frank Beamer's last win and we played from behind the last half. Last year in 2016 we took them to the woodshed, and that's always fun. And this year they thought they had a chance.
Going back even further, 2007 was actually a good game with both teams playing well. Ryan Williams four touchdowns in 2009 will hold a special place in my heart (probably my favorite VT running back).

As satisfying as 38-0 bro was the 2014 game is probably my favorite. I rewatch it a couple of times a year. Watching Brewer separate his shoulder then come back in the game and win it throwing the ball thrust him into my top 5 Hokies list.
2011 for sure. And if you were there you will know why. They knew it was their year and the town was thick with a fog of smug. I saw Hokie birds on nooses and insane ridicule going into the stadium. It didn't last long, though.
I should've said 2011 excluded haha. When I was thinking about it I was like okay yeah 2011 is way better so what's second best haha. 2011 was awesome too because all of my UVA facebook friends were coming out and trash talking on there then the next day they got tired of receiving it and were like "okay we get it you won."
07 because the winner of that game represented the Coastal in the ACCCG. We crushed their hopes and went on to win the ACCCG at that. I was at that game and Sintim (I think) was whoofing the whoe game only to lose in the end. the only reason they were in that game was because we went to that Royal trick play (ER passing it) and we turned it over. LOLUVA scored on the ensuing drive getting them back in the game.
'11 was great because the VA media tried to hype LOLUVAs and lead folks to believe they were better than VPI (though we were a top 10 team at that point). They came out and thought they would win only to be beat down, not only on the score board but physically.
15 was nice as well. CFB's final regular season game, getting us to bowl eligibility Bud's kiss on CFB's cheek. Whats not to love.
I thought 2016 was great. It was so clear that we made a great hire, and they did not.
Plus it was the biggest beatdown on the hoos since the early 80s.
Although, a year later, the hire for UVA doesn't look as bad. They are not terrible and are bowl eligible.

Same could be said for London year 2. Fortunately, UVA continued to display their trademark ineptitude (at least on offense).
Have you looked in their cupboard after this year's "fourth and fifth years" leave? They may not win three games next year, ESPECIALLY if they don't find a quarterback. They just blew their wad for this half-decade on a 6-6 season with a chance to get a 7th -- although it looks like they'll play Navy in the Military Bowl, and might get spanked.
Has to be Frank's last reg season game. The combination of knowing that was his last uva game, winning, and the rumors flying around on mobile phones throughout the day that we had his replacement lined up, it was just a great day in hooville!
2011 because beatdown shutouts are awesome.

2007 because it was the last Hoo kicking I got to see in person before I graduated.

2011 felt pretty damn good. Knocking the smug right out of them in their own stadium.
But 2016 felt a little better for me. Uva fans, God bless em, never seem to lose that bit of chippiness about em, do they? Think they know everything.

2014. I was at the game on the sidelines, literally the coldest I've ever been by the end of it. The punt block by Bucky, coupled with Brewer's comeback was something to cap a rather down year. I'll never forget that game.
2004. Had an asshole of a teacher who constantly talked shit about the school and, duh, the football team. Typical stuff. So the Monday after that game, I grabbed the Roanoke Times, went into his classroom, pulled it out and held it up like a declaration back in the Roman times. Felt so good.
2014. We left our seats in the east to go down in the southeast corner of the SEZ for the 2nd half. That Bucky TD, I pointed at him and he pointed at me (he didn't point at you...definitely me). I was like "Buckyyy! *double pistols*" he was like "Handsome drunk fan!!! *single pistol*" It's a moment I'll always cherish.

I'm going to go outside The Streak - I'm going to say 1983. 48-0, in Charlottesville, my freshman year. Why?
1) Biggest margin of victory in the series;
2) Got to see it in person, since I was "working" on the MV drumline;
3) Well, you never forget your first.
I thought it would always be like that, where we won big every year. I was young, and wrong. But hell, even with the close ones all the time, I'll take the "every year" thing we've got going on.
4) The Hoo goalpost torn down and paraded down the road
(1984 UVA tried to tear down ours.... it ended badly, one of the cheerleaders stood under the goalpost... and he was a brown belt in Tae Kwon Do)
A leg to you, sir, for that reminder. I'd genuinely forgotten about that, as well as the '84 follow-up. Most of the young'uns on this site can barely remember a time when we LOST these games!
I wanted to participate in the "goalposting," but doing so in my MV uniform would have led to ..... repercussions. Not least of which from Harry Price himself, never mind what the school would have done to me.
Hmmm, I was in the MVs in '83. One of my fond memories was spelling out 48-0 at Lane the following year. Good times.

2005 - Had neighbors, who had NOT gone to UVA but were fans. Had the flag, shirts and the whole nine yards. Made comments about my sons' degrees etc... After that butt-whipping, I never had to hear much but the quietest whispers for the next 10 years I lived there.
I will always remember that 4th quarter and Go Hokies going around Scott Stadium while the Hokies just ran out the game. It was glorious.
In my opinion, the non-alum fans are generally the worst. I know we have whole threads going on about Hoo douchiness, but in my experience almost all of the actual UVA grads I've met have been cool, it's the ones that didn't even go to UVA who are the quickest to trot out redneck jokes and brag about their badminton championships.
2017. I am not yet sweating 2018.

2005: we ran them out of the gym. They looked like a JV team. Brandon Ore streaking down the sidelines.

2009: again, we were so much more athletic. RMFW all day.
2011: not just LT, we were loaded at WR and had DW. Gayle was dominant. Rocco may have been UVA's best QBs in the streak.

What made 05 better, a former law school classmate of mine (he was a Hoo undergrad) came over to my house to watch and was confident in the win. He left at half time :). That and the T painted on the field. Priceless.

#1: 2004-Was a very good game that we had to have. Special year special game and the UVa crowd was so arrogant going into that season. They thought we shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as them anymore. They were a decent team and I think that win had as much to do with the direction of the programs as any of the others. Also it ended the Groh momentum.
#2: 2011- 38-0 Ended the London momentum. They were arrogant as hell again. Put them in their place.
#3 2007 This game was big because the winner went to ACC championship. How miserable would it have been to see them go. Didn't happen. Hokies played a pretty damn good game that day.
#5 2008 I think this one is forgotten a bit, but we had to win this one to get to ACC champ game. It was a close game and I think we had a late score and a late defensive stand to win it. Ended up winning the ACC
I will say there was something very satisfying about the '05 beatdown as well. They were looking for revenge at their place and still thought Groh was this mastermind that was about to take over college football and was no match for a simpleton like Beamer.
They would have won the division in 2011 as well. 2004, 2007 and 2011 were all seasons we kept them from a conf title.
I think there were 3 or 4 years we kept them out of a bowl game as well.
2006, 2008, and 2014 were the years we kept them from bowling.
You skipped four I think. You're right about 2008 too. It was a weird season and we considered it bad by then standards but it was great looking back all things considered.

The most recent one is always the most satisfying! I mean, they actually thought they had a chance this year, and even a few misinformed Hokies thought they had a chance. How much does it hurt when your coach says, "well, we've closed the gap, but not enough to win." LOLUVA
I thought they had a chance, maybe the best one they're going to get for a while, with a banged up Hokie roster and their "superstar" seniors on defense.

UVA tried out Vic Hall at QB, and Greg Boone went ham down the middle of the trenches, and then there was Bud going nuts, and Macho Harris had a pick, and then getting a hot sandwich at Apollos afterwards. Which i hear it no longer exists. Final year, last home game as a student, it was good.

But the one that has stood out to me the most during this streak was 2005. 52-14 ass kicking in the first return to Scott after they beat us in 2003. There was this belief that the series was always going to tilt toward the home team, and there were a few who legitimately thought they could play spoiler to us that day, and the shit housed them from the start. That game sent a message. A message that has resonated for the 12 years since. This is our state, your days are over.
It's 2004 for me. I'm old enough to remember that there was a very real concern that UVA had overtaken VT and that Groh was about to catch fire. They were recruiting incredibly well, and after the 2003 season debacle things were bleak.
That 2004 team in general is probably still my favorite season as a graduate (I was in school for magic of 99). Just an incredibly fun year, and my favorite Hokie ever, Bryan Randall, played lights out in the second half to beat UVA.
That is my favorite as well. It was a real good game, and u are right about all of the above. It was almost seen as an upset that we beat them. I think they were ranked as high as 5 that year (got blown out at FSU). I guess I am getting old because only a few here seem to remember that game or year. This was a game we had to fight and claw for to win. I dont think I have seen the tailgates afterwards as happy in any game since.
That season got us on track for a great run, I would consider it Beamer's best job of coaching. There was real concern after the 03 season.
38-0!! We were invited by our Hoo in laws to attend and share a family outing in Lane North. I was asked not to decorate my car because I was parking close to the Stadium in a heavy hitters lot. PISSED!! It didn't take too long after kick off for some Hoo fans to exit and by the end of the 3rd, most were gone. My in laws were long gone. Wife and I stuck around soaked up the post game fun.
All I know is I wish I had listened to Cowherd and actually bet on us for the last 14 years. He said in 05 or 06 "Uva and VT play every year, put your money on the Hokies" I dont think he even thought it would go on this long. Hes a shitbird but I am glad he was correct about that.
2011. Yes, because of 38-0. But more imporantly, this was the game that UVA made the "I Pledge" video.
"I Pledge" was a minute or so long video urging students to come back early from their Thanksgiving break to attend the Virginia Tech game. UVA created the phrase "I Pledge" in an attempt to create unity of the student population. The video featured numerous campus stars, such as Craig Littlepaige, the UVA president, and Joe Harris from the basketball team. The video has sense been removed from YouTube - I wish I would have captured it back then- it would have been epic troll fuel for years to come.

Fuente's first win was special. There were so many UVA fans that thought the Fuente/Foster pairing would be unsuccessful and that the two would clash causing the program to implode. Great prediction. Hokies 52 - UVA 10.

2011 - my wifes sister who was going to UVA was over. My son was 5 and just starting to understand football. He made fun of her non-stop. Needless to say she always departed before the game after that year.
I love the shutouts most. 38-0 tops the list.
