No. As a Cowboys fan, I can say that I have ALWAYS been a Cowboys fan. My dad is a Dallas fan and my grandfather was one until he died. I always have and always will bleed blue and silver. I liked them when they were 1-15 in '89 and will stick through any season...
I'm not a die hard Dallas fan, but I have been a fan since the '70s. Hated the Deadskins from the get go, so where could I go? Also admired Miami back in the '70s and actively rooted for them back then, especially after they drafted Don Strock. Growing up in Va gave me a healthy disrespect for the 'Skins and their delusional fans. Haven't really changed my feelings, though I will always root for any Hokie on any pro team, even if I have to gnash my teeth to do it. While I know a lot of Hokies are DC fans, most of the ones I know are also UVA fans, so there's that.
My father lived in Green Bay for a couple of years and considered himself an owner of the Packers, so I like them too. Sue me.
I do root for any Hokies playing. But I am pulling for the player not the team... Like I hope Stro and Timmy and even Adonis (and any other Hokies the Skins may have) make all kinds of plays but at the end of the day, I still hope the Deadskins lose.
That's my approach as well. If the skins do win, I want to see it's because a Hokie made the decisive play to eke out the victory (almost gags me to speak those words).
Real cowboys fans are fine, no one's got a problem with you (at least not until gameday). But as long as the media insists on brown nosing jerry jones & co with the America's team bullshit you're gonna get crap from the rest of us, it's just the way it is.

Understood. I agree that Jerry is often an idiot and he makes crappy decisions. He is definitely comparable to Snyder. I was just saying that not all Cowboys fans are just on the band/brandwagon.
I don't mind the shit that rains on Dallas fans around here and pretty much all over Virginia, but a lot of it is fueled by the Skins/Boys rivalry. Yes, Jerry Jones is, well, "special", but so are a bunch of owners. One of the reasons I grew to hate the Skins was George Allen, and please, don't get me started on him or his progeny, but it is the rivalry that keeps it going.
Edit: addendum As for the bandwagon part, with my arthritic knees and screwed up shoulder, I couldn't get into a kid's wagon if it was moving, much less a bandwagon. That's one reason why I'm glad I got a seat on the Hokie wagon 50 years ago.
Yeah, I am a Dallas fan. Always have been always will be. But I support my teams no matter what. The shit that people talk about other teams is fine as long as the shit talkers aren't being overly obnoxious and they can take it as well as give it--in good fun.

I would contend that there's a difference between teams that have wide ranging exposure/popularity beyond their markets and teams that have momentary bandwagon status due to winning. My point is that the Cowboys and Lakers are the former for their respective sports. You aren't going to find Golden State fans around the country as soon as they stop winning but talk about the Lakers didn't go away even when they miss the playoffs. I'll admit that the Patriots have had enough sustained success and are in a big enough market that they've dramatically grown the brand and accumulated long lasting popularity. It will be interesting to see what happens after Brady retires but I still think Cowboys are far more popular.

As I said, I don't know much about soccer but I do feel like American sports fans would tend to choose an EPL team to root for over La Liga. I went with ManU since the other teams named were overwhelmingly based on their appeal to the average American. I won't question that Barca has the most fans worldwide but I doubt their international fans could care less about which NHL team they are going to root for.

I was considering going to this game, Syracuse should have a decent offense with Dungy and I'm sure it'll be a fun environment drinking outside yankke stadium. They have a whole Street of bars that are fun to drink it before games. Should be a good game since I'll have no interest in who wins. Only reason I wouldn't go is if we lose to ND.

They look like the sleeves are just standard short sleeve (ala baseball) cut, and not cut to be snug like football jersey sleeves, which I especially dislike from an aesthetics viewpoint.

Having a UA apparel deal 10X that of our nike deal was the point. Sorry you missed it. I am not a Yankees fan...anymore. When I was young, though, my daddy was, and with Maris and Mantle (and I could go on and on,) they were fun to watch in the day. The main thing was, though, if the Yanks were on TV, I could stop yard work and come into the AC (yeah, we had it even back in the olden days) and lay on the floor while dad drank beer and we watched the ball game. I guarantee I was a Yankees fan back then and make no apologies for it.
Dad grew up outside of Baltimore and one of my earliest memories was spending the summer in the basement with Grandpa watching the O's while he got yelled at for smoking cigarettes in the house and throwing peanut shells on the ground. I think Grandpa might have kind of been a dick, but I miss him.
Yeah, my dad would be smoking as well. When I was young, nobody ever, and I do mean Ever, asked (much less, told) folks to go outside to smoke. The peanut shells would've pissed momma off, though.
Either way, and my dad definitely wasn't a dick, I sure do miss him too.
