Ok so while watching the UNCheat/Miami game, Ghetto Superstar randomly popped into my head. I guess it stemmed from thinking about the character of these two teams...
The other week I had Fat Bottomed Girls and 25 or 6 to 4 fighting with each other in my brain. I also had One Week going on last week...
I know. I know. I have a very random and eclectic taste in music.
So my question is this: What songs pop into your brain that you ACTUALLY LIKE (good songs) that you don't mind the fact that they are stuck in your head?

Call Me Maybe.
Hey I just met you
But this is crazy!
Definitely not "baby shark" that song has reached Nardouchey levels of despise.
What song would you not mind being an earworm?
Almost divorced Mrs. APFOW over this stupid ass song.
LEG for Eddie Izzard!
Edit: his "World History" sketch is hilarious😂
CAKE OR DEATH?
He's easily my favorite comic. We've seen him before in Richmond. He's playing again there on Saturday, but ya know, Hokies. He's playing in Charlottesville tomorrow night and we were waitlisted because it was sold out, but I got an email today that some opened up and bagged them.
Iiiiiits a small world aaaaaaaafter all....
The Zazu version, where he breaks into "I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts... Deddle-ly dee"?
Oh I never had to do this for Mufasa
"Long hot summer day" by Turnpike Troubadours
I get Turnpike stuck in my head a lot too, though it's typically 7&7 or Pipe Bomb Dream.
Me and a friend went to Richmond this past summer to see Tyler Childers on Brown's with a bunch of friends that live up there (TC is and was great). TT played the next date and I had never really listened to them before...really wished I would've gone back to see those guys play, they're incredible.
A leg each for Tyler Childers and TT references. Love them both - I got to see Turnpike at Red Rocks this summer and they were awesome as always.
I've recently started listening to them a ton along with the rest of the red dirt/texas country scene. Refreshing compared to today's country scene.
This whole tread gets an up vote.
Whiskey Myers, TT, Tyler Childers (tried getting tickets to his Atl concert $170????), Randy Rogers Band, Koe Wetzel, Corey Smith, Cody Jinks they're all constantly stuck in my head but highlander hit it on the nose, Log Hot Summer Days is the easiest one to get stuck there.
I have never even heard of any of them. "Cody Jinks" sounds like he should be playing QB at Texas Tech.
If you like older country music, I would suggest listening to any of the artists I have listed. It's a cool subgenre that is the anti-pop country. Once you have listened to Cody Jinks, there is a song by another artist called "Ode to Cody Jinks" which is pretty funny. Also, Michael Brewer was friends with the guys in the Josh Abbott Band I believe.
I don't like any country music ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That's ok. Country music doesn't like you either. I don't like any rap music.
Neither do I ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Ode to Cody Jinks is by Deryl Dodd. There is a cool concert on YouTube with Cody Jinks, Deryl Dodd and Courtney Patton where they take turns playing one of their songs (acoustic). They sometimes will jump in on each others songs......very cool and laid back sampling of each artist.
Will check that out, thanks.
It's called Luckenbach song swap. 3 sets. Over 2.5hrs of music
I saw Corey Smith in Charlottesville. He was pretty good. Not in the Texas Country scene, Chris Janson puts on a hell of a live show. Ridiculous amount of energy and he will kill some harmonica solos.
All those guys are most of the main stays in my playlist along with Jason Boland and The Stragglers, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Josh Abbott Band and Cory Morrow.
Sturgill, Trampled by Turtles, and the old Steeldrivers are also great ones
Saw Trampled by Turtles on the 9th in Charlottesville and what a show!!! If you haven't seen them live, put them on your must see list. So fucking good!!!
*drumroll*-Lorie lit a cigarette and smiled and waved the smoke out of her face...*harmonica*
So easy to get stuck in your head
I'd add in Casey Donahew and Cody Johnson too. I'm going to see Cody Jinks in Nov in Knoxville....my 2nd time seeing him.
Right now getting lots of listening volume
Cody Jinks
Cody Johnson
Turnpike Troubadours
Trampled by Turtles
Tyler Childers
Casey Donahew
Sturgill
Luke Combs (outlier I know)
Heavy rotation of the above in Lot 2 for ND.
Both of them are good artists too. Really like Diamond in My Pocket and Texas Kind of Way. I haven't listened to Trampled by Turtles, Sturgill and Tyler Childers so I will have to check them out.
Casey Donahew's first two albums were great. Would love it if the Texas bands would come out east more often. Seems like Randy Rogers and Turnpike are the only ones that consistently have a few dates every year on the east coast.
Any song by Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox. Also.... Sour Candy - Melt, Sunday Candy - Donnie Trumpet, Oranges - Lawrence, Brianstorm - Arctic Monkeys, and most things by Bowling for Soup
Love PMJ. I don't get most of the references (I don't do current pop), but I like the old styles. And I can't look away from Bradlee's hands on the piano. He makes it look soooo easy.
Any man that can make me listen to 6+ minutes of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is a wizard in my book.
Any James Bond theme.
Something something skyyyFALLLLLLL!!!
Brown chicken brown cow or bow chica wow wow!!!
Enter Sandman
Boogers & Cum, Uncle F-ker from South Park & F-k You Very Much by Lily Allen, Ollie North from American Dad, Bag of Weed from Family Guy.
Damn, that's a rough list there
My FIL is obsessed with the IC hearings and watches them probably monthly on youtube. My wife and I showed him the Ollie North skit and I swear to god he watches it while waiting for the youtube videos to load now.
Also as far as good earworms and American Dad are concerned, Red and Gay isn't a bad song to get stuck
Your FIL sounds like he's got a healthy sense of humor.
Daughter of the Sea

Ohh man, there's quite a lot actually. These are the songs that have been stuck in my head the most lately and are yet to annoy me.
Ex-Lion Tamer - Wire
Blues from a Gun - Jesus and Mary Chain
Gimme Danger - Iggy Pop
Casual Affair - Tonic
I feel like this thread is gonna jinx these...Barracuda by Heart, Reptillia by The Strokes, For Elise by St. Motel, Mannish Boy by Muddy Waters
Leg for Mannish Boy mention.
I played in a blues band in the 2000s and we covered that song. We had a really good singer, and I have to say we did it justice.
Literally any Iron Maiden riff.
Sleep with one eye open, Gripping your pillow tight
Exit light, Enter night
Take my hand, We're off to Never Neverland
The gif goes on & on my friends

Africa - Toto
All ready +1'd call me maybe
Shut up and dance -walk the moon
You can call me Al - Chevy Chase
Never gonna give you up - rickroll
Leg for Toto (that reminds me, Human Nature by MJ which was written by Toto). Interesting story, when Toto did the rough cut for HN, that was on the same day they finished cutting Africa.
Yeah my wife has Africa stuck in her head right now. Of course I put it there. But that is my goal in life, putting songs in my wife's head and hopefully doing it in a way she doesnt know how it got there.
My buddy is obsessed with the Weezer cover of Africa
Pale imitation of the Toto rendition, in my opinion.
I just like the weezer cover because the drums are up higher in the mix and you can really get a feel for how complex they made a pop song. RIP Jeff Porcaro
I like it because of Weird Al.
Sugar - Maroon 5
Valerie - Steve Winwood
Anything by Hall and Oates
Pharrell Williams - "Happy"
Aaron Lewis - "Grandaddys Gun"
Theory of a Deadman - Rx(Medicate)
21 pilots - Ride
Alt-J : Breezeblocks and Every Other Freckle
Pretty much anything by The Mars Volta (RIP)
Not entirely an answer to your question, but I have been whistling the opener of "Wiggle" by Jason Derulo FOR TWO FUCKING YEARS.
I will do it without even realizing it. It might be one of the worst documented cases of ear worm ever.
Had that as my ringtone for a long time. It was awesome.
Might have to bring that back.
Edit: TEXT Message ringtone.
every primus and tool songs
Enter Sandman
Everytime I'm walking through an airport, "I'm too sexy" runs through my head and I walk with a ton more confidence.
Interesting. Under the same conditions, The Streak by Ray Stevens goes through my head.
You might say I walk with a ton more confidence, as well.
Until the screams and/or laughter start
This is America. Don't catch you slippin now.
Wannabe Spice Girls
99 Red Balloons Goldfinger cover

Lately the song in my head that I don't mind is "Conscious Club" by Vulfpeck
Leg for Vulfpeck! Those guys really bring the funk.
Most of the songs I get stuck in my head are mashups, usually by DJ Cummerbund, oneboredjeu, or Isosine.
Right now it's Jerry Was Racing Cars.
I googled and I'm cracking UP! OMG! You have ruined my day.
Thunderhorse - Dethklok
Wykytron - 3 Inches of Blood
'Ere We Go - HMKids
Gangsta's Paradise by Coolio.
Who fun fact is now a chef.
Power and the money, money and the power
Minute after minute, hour after hour
Everybody's running, but half of them ain't looking
What's going on in the kitchen, but I don't know what's cooking
They say I've got to learn but nobody's here to teach me
If they can't understand it, how can they reach me
I guess they can't

That's why I know my life is out of luck fool
I think we figured out whats going on in the kitchen! coolio still doesn't know what hes cooking though
SN* there comes a time in every mans life when he has to just let go of the thought of holding on to the few hairs he has left. coolio has come to that point in life.
call JG wentworth 877 cash nowwwwwww
great minds think alike, and so do we!
Tequila
Since it just came on the radio:
Sweater Weather - The Neighborhood
Stray Cats Rock This Town
Corey Hart: Sunglasses at night
Yup. I'm that cool. And that old.
Three jump immediately to mind. At least one of these seems to get lodged in my skullmeat at least once a day.
American Pie - Don McLean
Someday I Suppose - Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Rose Tattoo - Dropkick Murphys
There are no good earworms for me. I have been dealing with constant music in my head my entire life. My teeth show damage from the near incessant tapping to the beat, and unless I'm asleep, I hear them all, I hear them all, I hear them all. It is a curse we all seem to endure sometimes, but for me, it's all the time, and regardless of how much I may like the music, I'd pay good money for it all just to stop.
Ryan started the FIYAA
I watched Dinner Party the other night and now That One Night is in my head

This is the most recent thing to get stuck in my head that I didn't mind. It's weird. I'm a WUVT alumnus. No apologies.
I was also singing this a few weeks ago and my wife goes, "Are you singing Puttin' on the Ritz?" I said, "Hell no. Capital Cities!"
But in all seriousness... I can't not love this song when I hear it on the radio
Wishing Well - William Clark Green
this song overlaid over this gif is looping in my head and I'm ok with it

Classics:
Jessie's Girl - Rick Springfield
Africa - Toto
Boyz in the Hood - Dynamite Hack
Queen songs
Currently:
Burning Man - Dierks Bentley/Brothers Osborne
Sound of Silence - Disturbed
Add '99 by Barns Courtney. Very catchy at the moment and I can't stop hearing it
I GET KNOCKED DOWN! BUT I GET UP AGAIN!
That song got me through Statics
lol, we used to listen to Ants Marching by DMB before Dynamics tests. Moment of peace before entering hell.
Luckily didn't have to take Dynamics being in Civil. Classes were much better after getting through Statics and to a lesser extent Deforms (I had Chang).
Chang is THE man. I was lucky enough to get him for Dynamics, Deforms, System Dynamics, and Vibrations. By far one of the best professors ever at Tech. I owe a lot to that guy.
Wow! That's awesome. He was definitely a special teacher and cared a lot about his students. I've heard he taught himself an AOE class just by looking at the textbook so that he could help out a student.
As an AOE Major, Chang could help us in any class. He was incredible. I wish the school appreciated him as much as his students did.
Chang is the real MVP. He made deforms a breeze. The guy is also a human calculator.
Almost forgot one!
Two Princes - Spin Doctors
I discovered Eleventyseven relatively recently and this particular song has been stuck in my head a lot lately:
F-R-E-E that spells "free" credit report dot com baby
Education Connection!
Watched Hangover again the other week and now I have the song that Ed Helms character sings mid movie about finding Doug stuck in my head. You know, the one that ends "and if he gets murdered by crystal meth tweakerrrrsss, well then we're shit out o luck"
Doug, Doug OH DOOOOOOUGY DOOOOUG DOUG
.
.
Anyone else have Jason Malone for Legal & Ethical Environment of Business? I remember that he played Barbie Girl for an uncomfortable amount of time in class. I think it was for some kind of copyright infringement example, but I'm not entirely sure.
I don't know if anybody else listens to their show, but "Heeeey everybody, Jim and Sam are here..."
Spoonman - Soundgarden
All Apologies - Nirvana
Spoonman is great but I dig My Wave - All Apologies the same but < Man Who Sold The World
we started covering Rooster...so that one is often on the mental replay loop
Also whistling various versions of Times Like These and Black Balloon.
About a week ago I heard "Brimful of Asha" on a local station for the first time in at least 15 years... can't get it out of my head... 'cause everybody needs a bosom for a pillow...
A throwback to World Regions around 2005...
Lately, it's been Merle Haggard "Mama Tried"
...."I spent 21 in prison doin' life without parole"
at full volume
This song is forever ruined bc of its use in The Strangers, right before the dude gets "turkey shot"
Deleted
Any song that uses the line "OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Mama!
OH MAMA
White Trash Story by Casey Donahew Band was the song this weekend. Like most songs, after a few beers this one gets more fun to sing.
Drift Away by Uncle Kracker version
Country Roads anytime I headed back to Blacksburg
A Pirate Looks at Forty.
My head is full of songs, anything I hear and like I will listen to enough to know the words or think I know the words.
I have made a lot of Spotify playlists, so if you like country, classic rock, popular songs and throwback rap songs. At least one of the playlists works for any random group of friends I'm around.
It's getting in the mountain mindset. The Shenandoah River is mostly in Virginia. John Denver had never been to West Virginia before he sang that song. So I make it in my mind about going home to Blacksburg.
I also typically change the words in my mind when I hear it to West(ern) Virginia, or Just Virginia.
Nice, I like that. I will start doing the Western Virginia version
Just a little heads up for those of you who do not know this -----> John Denver didn't really write the song "Country Roads," rather he made some revisions to it. He sang it, and it was a huge hit for him, but the song was written by a guy named Bill Danoff, who lives in the small neighborhood called the Palisades just west of Georgetown in Washington, DC and his wife at the time, Mary Nivert. They opened up for Denver at a club in DC way back when, and then later that night played the tune for Denver and he loved it. They all stayed up til 6AM with Denver making some changes to lyrics til it was done. Of note, Bill Danoff also played in the Vocal Starland Band, and wrote/performed their classic "Afternoon Delight" (cue Anchorman). Not a sermon, just a thought...
Thanks for dropping some knowledge on us. Pretty cool story.
Just found Casey Donahew Band recently.....I dig em. The song College Years hits pretty close....
"It wasn't easy, but somehow I fit
Four long years of college into six"
Recently had the Disturbed cover of Sound of Silence stuck on repeat in my head, and Crazy Bitch by Buckcherry quite a bit recently too especially whenever my wife is calling...
Voices Carry by Til Tuesday has been stuck in my head for about two months now. Highly underrated 80s 1 hit wonder.
Also, Scotty Doesn't Know by Lustra, because it's one of like 4 songs on the jukebox at the Fallon Officers Club, and it is hilarious how people react when they hear it for the 12 time in one night.
Driving to work this morning I heard Young MC's "Bust a Move" and, since it's been in my head all day and I still like it, I thought I'd mention it. Another one is LL Cool J's "Around the Way Girl" that will randomly pop in my head.
"Piss on You" - Dave Chappelle dressed as R Kelly
Come on Eileen covered by Save Ferris
Theme song to chariots of fire. I can hum that sucker all day and tap my finger like I'm Mr. bean playing the piano in the Olympic ceremony all day
