OT: What random songs do you not mind getting stuck in your head?

Ok so while watching the UNCheat/Miami game, Ghetto Superstar randomly popped into my head. I guess it stemmed from thinking about the character of these two teams...

The other week I had Fat Bottomed Girls and 25 or 6 to 4 fighting with each other in my brain. I also had One Week going on last week...
I know. I know. I have a very random and eclectic taste in music.

So my question is this: What songs pop into your brain that you ACTUALLY LIKE (good songs) that you don't mind the fact that they are stuck in your head?

But this is crazy!

"Welcome to the Terror Dome." -- Corey Moore

Definitely not "baby shark" that song has reached Nardouchey levels of despise.

What song would you not mind being an earworm?

Almost divorced Mrs. APFOW over this stupid ass song.

HOKIES

CAKE OR DEATH?

He's easily my favorite comic. We've seen him before in Richmond. He's playing again there on Saturday, but ya know, Hokies. He's playing in Charlottesville tomorrow night and we were waitlisted because it was sold out, but I got an email today that some opened up and bagged them.

If you play it, they will win.

"Long hot summer day" by Turnpike Troubadours

Amateur superstar and idiot extraordinaire.

I get Turnpike stuck in my head a lot too, though it's typically 7&7 or Pipe Bomb Dream.

Me and a friend went to Richmond this past summer to see Tyler Childers on Brown's with a bunch of friends that live up there (TC is and was great). TT played the next date and I had never really listened to them before...really wished I would've gone back to see those guys play, they're incredible.

Amateur superstar and idiot extraordinaire.

A leg each for Tyler Childers and TT references. Love them both - I got to see Turnpike at Red Rocks this summer and they were awesome as always.

Druckenmiller the shotgun snap, fakes short, fires it deep into the end zone it is....caught! It is caught for a touchdown by Jermaine Holmes with 47 seconds left!

I've recently started listening to them a ton along with the rest of the red dirt/texas country scene. Refreshing compared to today's country scene.

Can't spell DBU without Bud

This whole tread gets an up vote.

Whiskey Myers, TT, Tyler Childers (tried getting tickets to his Atl concert $170????), Randy Rogers Band, Koe Wetzel, Corey Smith, Cody Jinks they're all constantly stuck in my head but highlander hit it on the nose, Log Hot Summer Days is the easiest one to get stuck there.

(add if applicable) /s

I have never even heard of any of them. "Cody Jinks" sounds like he should be playing QB at Texas Tech.

"Why gobble gobble chumps asks such good questions, I will never know." - TheFifthFuller

If you like older country music, I would suggest listening to any of the artists I have listed. It's a cool subgenre that is the anti-pop country. Once you have listened to Cody Jinks, there is a song by another artist called "Ode to Cody Jinks" which is pretty funny. Also, Michael Brewer was friends with the guys in the Josh Abbott Band I believe.

Can't spell DBU without Bud

I don't like any country music ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's ok. Country music doesn't like you either. I don't like any rap music.

Ode to Cody Jinks is by Deryl Dodd. There is a cool concert on YouTube with Cody Jinks, Deryl Dodd and Courtney Patton where they take turns playing one of their songs (acoustic). They sometimes will jump in on each others songs......very cool and laid back sampling of each artist.

HokieObsession

Will check that out, thanks.

Can't spell DBU without Bud

It's called Luckenbach song swap. 3 sets. Over 2.5hrs of music

HokieObsession

I saw Corey Smith in Charlottesville. He was pretty good. Not in the Texas Country scene, Chris Janson puts on a hell of a live show. Ridiculous amount of energy and he will kill some harmonica solos.

All those guys are most of the main stays in my playlist along with Jason Boland and The Stragglers, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Josh Abbott Band and Cory Morrow.

Can't spell DBU without Bud

Sturgill, Trampled by Turtles, and the old Steeldrivers are also great ones

Saw Trampled by Turtles on the 9th in Charlottesville and what a show!!! If you haven't seen them live, put them on your must see list. So fucking good!!!

If you play it, they will win.

I'd add in Casey Donahew and Cody Johnson too. I'm going to see Cody Jinks in Nov in Knoxville....my 2nd time seeing him.
Right now getting lots of listening volume
Cody Jinks
Cody Johnson
Turnpike Troubadours
Trampled by Turtles
Tyler Childers
Casey Donahew
Sturgill
Luke Combs (outlier I know)

Heavy rotation of the above in Lot 2 for ND.

HokieObsession

Both of them are good artists too. Really like Diamond in My Pocket and Texas Kind of Way. I haven't listened to Trampled by Turtles, Sturgill and Tyler Childers so I will have to check them out.

Can't spell DBU without Bud

Casey Donahew's first two albums were great. Would love it if the Texas bands would come out east more often. Seems like Randy Rogers and Turnpike are the only ones that consistently have a few dates every year on the east coast.

Let's Go

Damn, that's a rough list there

My FIL is obsessed with the IC hearings and watches them probably monthly on youtube. My wife and I showed him the Ollie North skit and I swear to god he watches it while waiting for the youtube videos to load now.

Also as far as good earworms and American Dad are concerned, Red and Gay isn't a bad song to get stuck

Leg for Mannish Boy mention.

I played in a blues band in the 2000s and we covered that song. We had a really good singer, and I have to say we did it justice.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me.

Yeah my wife has Africa stuck in her head right now. Of course I put it there. But that is my goal in life, putting songs in my wife's head and hopefully doing it in a way she doesnt know how it got there.

My buddy is obsessed with the Weezer cover of Africa

Pale imitation of the Toto rendition, in my opinion.

Luckily didn't have to take Dynamics being in Civil. Classes were much better after getting through Statics and to a lesser extent Deforms (I had Chang).

Chang is THE man. I was lucky enough to get him for Dynamics, Deforms, System Dynamics, and Vibrations. By far one of the best professors ever at Tech. I owe a lot to that guy.

Country Roads anytime I headed back to Blacksburg

It's getting in the mountain mindset. The Shenandoah River is mostly in Virginia. John Denver had never been to West Virginia before he sang that song. So I make it in my mind about going home to Blacksburg.

Can't spell DBU without Bud

I also typically change the words in my mind when I hear it to West(ern) Virginia, or Just Virginia.

Nice, I like that. I will start doing the Western Virginia version

Can't spell DBU without Bud

Just a little heads up for those of you who do not know this -----> John Denver didn't really write the song "Country Roads," rather he made some revisions to it. He sang it, and it was a huge hit for him, but the song was written by a guy named Bill Danoff, who lives in the small neighborhood called the Palisades just west of Georgetown in Washington, DC and his wife at the time, Mary Nivert. They opened up for Denver at a club in DC way back when, and then later that night played the tune for Denver and he loved it. They all stayed up til 6AM with Denver making some changes to lyrics til it was done. Of note, Bill Danoff also played in the Vocal Starland Band, and wrote/performed their classic "Afternoon Delight" (cue Anchorman). Not a sermon, just a thought...
