07Hokie already pointed out that we won that game so I'll just add that Miami was #2 in the nation. ESPN said that game was the "biggest win in it's (Virginia Tech's) history". Also, having been at the Miami game I can say that drop completely took the wind out of Miami's sail... as I recall it was early in the game and both teams were up for it. After the drop we took all the momentum and never looked back.

I have to agree. The Miami fail was fantastic, because he watched the ball hit the ground and STILL dove for it as if it mattered. That's a double fail compared to a single fail.

I dunno, I can't stop watching the shortened version and laughing out loud. Without the lead-up it just looks like an invisble grenade throws him backwards right when he's about to secure the ball.

I give credit to the turf monster at the South Endzone goal line. Kept Danny Coale out of the endzone on his Nebraska catch, knocked the ball away from Miami in '03, poked the ball away from UVa this year, I even think I remember him trying to trip up Chris Ellis on a defensive TD in Beamer's first win over Bowden and FSU back in '08(maybe?).

I knew it! Must be the HokieBird's half brother banished the South endzone turf for all eternity. You think its a coincidence that all of these plays happened after the South Endzone expansion in 2002?! Tech probably built the South Endzone expansion just to keep him chained to one end for fear he might roam the whole field like back before the mid 90s. Now all of the strange bounces are contained to one end of the field.

I would go with UVA. Miami owed us one for Ernest Wilford's dropped 2 point conversion a few years earlier. Grant Noel in that game might be the only QB ever to have had a QBR that was competitive with Nathan Peterman and we were still the dropped 2 point conversion away from tying the eventual national champions...

Miami, both because of the magnitude of the game but also the difficulty (or lack there of) of the catch. That thing is right in his bread basket. Perkins has at least 15-20% fault in that dude dropping it because there was no one pressuring him in the pocket nor running with his receiver, yet he still under threw him pretty badly.

Kevin Everett (Miami) was open because they ran a fake FG beautifully.
Tavares Kelly (loluva) was open because we had probably the biggest coverage bust of the season.
We practically gift-wrapped a TD to the Hoos, and they couldn't even accept the blessing. So, I'm going with them.

The Miami player was ineligible downfield. He was covered in the formation. But the officials missed it. I'd go with UVA as the bigger fail, since the UVA guy was a real receiver while the UM guy was a tight end.

The Miami fail played a more pivotal role in that game. But the LOLUVA one is great because LOLUVA. So yes, they both failed it better.
