Former Virginia Tech football coach Frank Beamer will address 2019 graduates during the university's commencement 8:30 a.m., in the stadium where he coached football for 29 seasons. It will be Beamer's first commencement address at Tech. He was Radford University's spring commencement speaker in 2017.
Who was your commencement speaker? For me it was Hoda Kotb. I'll never forget how she played Enter Sandman on her iPod!

My original graduating class (1993) was then-gubernatorial candidate Allen giving what was essentially a campaign speech. When I actually walked (1995) was the then-VA secretary of education defending her budget cuts.
Looks like VT has improved the quality of their commencement speakers. (Low bar, I know.)
So glad my younger sister is graduating from Tech this semester! Proud of her for graduating, but SO EXCITED TO SEE FRANK!
Wonder if Stephen Curry would be willing to do it after he retired just so he could bury the hatchet and we could give him an honorary degree.
