Apparently UVA was afraid that when Kyle Guy's wedding registry became public knowledge because of an article run by Busted Coverage that it would be a source of NCAA violations so they forced Guy to make his wedding registry private, which means only he and his fiancé can see it, so now friends and family cant access it.
They had indicated to him it came down from the NCAA, but the NCAA was quick to deny having done it and also made clear that normal gifts from the registry are not a violation. Just another LOLUVA thing to do.....
Virginia's Kyle Guy and his fiancee can't start their wedding registry because NCAA. pic.twitter.com/kuFB3O8A0f— USA TODAY Sports (@usatodaysports) April 4, 2019
I am not a fan of MANBUN but even I think this is ridiculous.

Her last name is going to be Guy for the rest of her life. She's earned some free stuff.
Mrs. Guy
I'd give him a flowbee
Or maybe a Suck-Kut
Getting engaged in college should be an ncaa violation.
I know that's a joke but Doug Gottlieb, feel how you will about him, talked about how himself and several of his OK State teammates were planning on getting married to their gfs because they would get extra travel benefits for the NCAA tournament.
I'll take worst reason to get married for 800 Alex
If only you knew how many service members get married simply to get out of the barracks. Well, that and BAH.
I've known a few. And then you get more money to have a kid, and all costs are covered. Guy I worked with called it the Army's golden handcuffs.
Had some friends that were actually together get married while we were in Germany. They ran out of base housing so they got insane BAH to live in a house a few towns over from base. The house was insane as well. Not gonna lie, their digs made be think about it.
Happens all the time in the military too
Got me by a few seconds. Have a leg.
On what grounds?
Insanity.
The NCAA never misses a thing...

You'd think they could just go down the hall and ask Bronco how they handled this stuff at BYU.
Underrated comment right here
Even though this is loluva, the NCAA can fuck all the way off. Seriously, what is its purpose anymore? It looks the other way when it should be dropping the hammer and then it does stupid shit like this and #FreeNolley fucking with people's lives.
Edit: Too many to reply to, so Imma drop this in an edit. I get that it wasn't the NCAA, but loluva's compliance office. But do you really think their compliance office would have to be so cautious about something so harmless and normal (And by normal, I mean a wedding registry, not being engaged in college. *See heuplek's comment above.) if the NCAA wasn't a bunch of fuckheads?
Psssst....the NCAA wasn't involved in this...
Yeah, it was LOLUVA's compliance office being overly cautious. However, you can't blame them because the NCAA blows.
Pretty sure this one is on UVA, not NCAA.
Nah UVA only made him take down out of fear that it would be an infraction
Please tell me he is a senior and is gone anyway...
He and Jerome are juniors.
Hehe, no wonder they wanted the registry hidden.
dammit. one more year of those two
If UVA wins this, they both gone. Guy will get an NBA look, and I'd argue Jerome could be a late first rounder.
Probably Guy, but Jerome is a projected late 1st, early 2nd. I think he goes.
I'm not your guy, friend
Hoo?
Mike Jones
It is an interesting issue, one I hadn't considered. What keeps a booster from dropping a lot of money on the couple? I'd have a Lotus Evora on my registry if I were him.
Best look on a groom's face that I ever saw was when I worked at Target and this guy realized he could literally scan anything and put whatever amount he wanted. I believe he added 10,000 Reese's peanut butter cups.
I got a really nice Scrabble set on mine. Anyone want to play Scrabble?
Guy, engaged? Well at least we now know who told him to ditch the idiotic man-bun.
I'm wondering what would happen if VT fans chipped in and bought him wedding gifts to make him ineligible (assuming the NCAA views this the same way as UVAs compliance officer)
Well, hate to admit, but i really like Guy, sans Man-bun that is. Seems like good dude.
He should just go pro after season and re-open registry. I'll send him a brie serving tray if he does.
Are we guessing how many hair ties are on the registry?
