I personally think we should take the gobbler and have its eyes forward, body go down the center of the helmet and the wings on the sides all goalie mask style.

Not bad looking,

...but I think we should push the VT brand/logo recognition so hard that Vermont is forced to change their abbreviation. Alternate jerseys, play with colors (like all-maroon-everything), but leave the big VT alone.

i could see a maroon helmet with some white hokie feathers (similar to that .. oregon duck feathers) with a vt in the front like this .. and that would be pretty cool

I think they are definitely modern. That being said I am a lil more traditional and prefer something with a VPI reference opposed to the hokie or VT, but you have to think it will attract some of these younger recruits nowadays that has little connnection or interest in our traditional, pretty simple, go to work, blue collar, get it done attitude on the field. Overall I am finding them a lil more atrractive everytime I look at them. It will ultimately depend on how the coordinate them with the uniform itself though, IMO. Love the all whites, love the all maroons, lose the orange. Agree maybe some metallic but only on occasion. We are Virginia Tech, we are tradition.

OK, I'll be the only one

I love the first helmet. It's different. If the cartoony Hokie bird was replaced by the fighting gobbler I'd absolutely love it.

I'm with you the top one is pretty cool. I wouldnt want to switch to that permanently but could be cool for a one off.

I'm sort of in the minority in general in that I like teams wearing all the different unis though. Keeps things fresh. What Oregon wore at the Rose Bowl was bad fuckin ass. I thought what Georgia wore against Boise was really cool.

i repeat .. BAD ASS .. i think their unis are awesome .. some are a little over the top but some are awesome .. and i'm not saying that i'd want vt to change their uni to something like this permanently .. but here and there -- it would be cool ..

OK folks,

what is wrong with the good 'ol fashioned maroon helmet, VT on the side, possibly with the strips (see GT game photos)??? I can stomach the white helmets (w/stripes if we have to have it, please). Other than that, lets leave the lids alone!!! No orange, no black, no conglomeration of pictures, graphics, fancy doo-dads, or any-freaking-thing else!! Just put an understated helmet on, buckle the chin strap, go out and beat the living crap out of somebody!

Ok, I feel better now. Rant over.

IET .. it's for fun .. i'm all for tradition .. love the maroon w/vt helmets .. love the white helmets with both types of logos

just saying that if they decided to get all modern, i'd prefer to keep any kind of turkey off the helmet .. some "wings" would be doable i think

I like the way Oregon uses their duck wings on their helmets and unis .. They're sometimes subtle but just noticable enough to be cool. A solid maroon-metallic helmet with some "barely noticeable" turkey feathers with an orange VT in the front (or back) .. and all maroon unis with "barely noticable" turkey feathers on the shoulders (just a little lighter shade of red than maroon) .. that would be bad-ass

Once the stench of that loss faded I really liked the black helmets. It would be nice to see them once or twice every year.

FSU's blacks are really well done and pair black and a maroon-ish color. Match the black helmets with those and you have some bitching uniforms. I may Photoshop this later.

I prefer the old fashioned VT but with a modern twist. I do think they need some kind of updated uni that attracts recruits more though. But it doesn't sound like that will be this year.

I agree 100%. I love the current "throwback" jerseys we wear now; however, I hope they are either changed soon or we really slam the "tradition" being established at Tech with these jerseys as the prime visual exemplar. Personally I was always a fan of the 2004-2007 jerseys: not too "futuristic" but also not bland a la Michigan's home jersey, Penn State, or Alabama. Nothing screams creativity like flat colors and numbers. Please don't push the tradition factor in- I get it, they want to keep the past alive. Yawn.

This current makeup will probably only stay for two more years- ever since VT re-signed with Nike in 2004 new jerseys come out once every three to four years depending on fan purchases and general opinions of all pertinent parties: coaches, players, recruits, and fans.

In terms of the helmet, I like what we have now and the variants of it personally. Would like to see the matte black helmets make a return at some point for a neutral site game or even the old VT helmet with the Orange Commonwealth and Maroon Tech inscribed. Was a big fan of that helmet in old photos. A fighting gobbler helmet would be good for one game I think- have it with the matte black or even white and with a black out version of the current jersey we have now or with whatever new horrific design Nike will come up with next- the nuclear bomb of chicago maroon and burnt orange.

I'm only okay with a matte black helmet situation, if we were to change it up. I feel like the rest of the stuff (oregon as my prime example) is just too gimmicky. I would rather us stay traditional and prove it on the field as opposed to trying to get attention for our fancy uniforms.

All Maroon Everything

I like seeing new uniform tweaks once or twice a year, but I really want to see all maroon everything for a big-time game (obviously not against FSU or Bama). And this is from a young guy (freshman year 2007) who just wants to reminisce on the years I remember through youtube highlights.

Too cartoonish. Don't like the grey. Don't mind trying new things but this doesn't do it for me.

Somehting with oversized parts of logos, extra large VT, something like that may be okay.

Uniforms

Those helmets up top are cool looking, but it doesnt represent what VT stands for. I say we come out in Maroon helmets w a orange VT or VPI, maroon pants, maroon jerseys maroon socks, maroon everything!!!! And im not opposed to orange on orange either....
