OP note: Sorry this is late. I've been travelling for work all week and I'm nowhere near as dedicated to this as French is to his stuff. Finally getting to this when I've gotten a free night. The formating is a little off and I'm sure many of the lines have shifted since I pulled them, but what are you gonna do?
This is the part where I bitch about how last week went down. How I lost money mostly and how I came away Monday morning swearing I wouldn't bet again this week. I went to bed Saturday night thinking that's how my weekend went. I wasn't at a computer and didn't feel like fighting the format of my betting site on my phone to see how my over on the Baylor game was scored. See, I took the over and even cheated it up to 60.5 to get a better return. They didn't sniff that in regulation (tied 20-20 as the clock hit 0:00), but the betting gods caused a high scoring overtime. No single OT win because of a FG followed by a turnover. No, both teams put up 7 in the first OT and then combined for 11 more in the second. I'd been bitten before by some small print on a soccer bet that said any score bets are graded at the end of regulation and that overtime/penalties does not count. I worried it would be the same with CFB. So when Monday rolled around and I checked my account, I fully expected to have had a losing weekend. Lo and behold, I won! Even though the weekend was only barely in the black, the lowered expectations made it that much more satisfying. Ain't the human psyche wild?
Anyway. Yeah, back to bitching. Tennessee figured out how to win a game. UGa figured out how to lose one. On the flip side, Bama did Bama things. GT did GT things. Somehow I actually hit on my 5 team ML parlay of heavy favorites for a nice return. But, Temple? Really? Temple? They get blown out by 2-4 Buffalo only to quietly slink up to 5-1 with a win over Memphis this weekend. Don't bet, kids.
Anyway, on to this week's lines.
- Miami (-18): Until proven otherwise, I'm taking whoever is playing GT. I don't think Vegas is giving Miami nearly enough credit here. They held LOLUVa to ZERO TDs. Temple held GT to ZERO offensive points at all. Miami by triple digits...
- LOLUVa (-3.5): It pains me that we want LOLUVa to win this to increase our chances of surpassing Duke. Do I think they can do it? Sure. I also thought they'd get it done in Miami, but man was I wrong. I think Cutcliffe takes this one outright and we're hoping for two more Duke losses somewhere else on their schedule.
- Houston (-22): Houston is unwinfeated against FBS teams. Wait, North Texas is FBS. Fine. They're 1-4 against FBS competition. They've also faced Wisconsin, Oklahoma, and Cincinnati. Also, UConn sucks. Like really sucks. Normally I'd say we're in for a backdoor cover by the underdogs, but I think Houston's QB does better with a second week of 1st team snaps under his belt and they show it against the GT of the American.
- Florida (-6): The fact that USCe fans get to watch top ten teams play in their stadium in back to back weeks really pisses me off given our schedule. Even moreso now that they managed to ride 4 TOs to a win over #3 UGa last weekend. Oh to be going into a game like this sitting on top of the world and thinking you can take all comers. Well, you don't get that two weeks in a row. Florida covers if for no other reason that they have to win convincingly to make an argument for a playoff berth despite losing to LSU/Bama in the SEC title game.
As always, please do not take my ramblings as legitimate gambling advice. You will lose your shirt and anything else you're foolish enough to bet based on my idiocy.
Lines may change over the course of the week. I also may have made errors copying them. Always triple check when money is at stake
TKP does not encourage gambling and even if it did, I am neither employed nor sanctioned by Orange and Maroon Media, LLC so who cares.
