Oscar Bradburn Ray Guy Finalist fan vote.

Time to do our thing TKP and overwhelm an online poll!

Technically they've only narrowed it to semi-finalists at this point.

While you have a valid point, Bradburn's a finisher, he'll get there.

This vote will help get him to the finals.

I'd recommend maybe changing the title to get more people to vote... if they dont know it's a fan vote? Just a thought

VB born, class of '14

30% of the vote so far, guy from Florida is winning wtf Hokies

Best duos in Hokie history: Hall & Adibi, 3rd & Tyrod, Georgia & Liz

I'm doing my best to influence it now.

Just voted. Oscar is way out ahead of 3rd and gaining on 1st

I don't know what a Hokie is, but God is one of them!

What does the fan vote actually do? From reading (and boy is it hard to read, that font is something else) their website, it looks like it's voted on by media folks and former winners. I mean, I definitely still voted, but I'm not sure it matters.

Usually it's a certain percentage or points. Essentially all the fan votes = an extra media member, etc.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

F Lorida! We need more Hokies to support our Guy

I voted for Bradburn but that kid at Rutgers is criminally behind in votes. His punts like Bradburn's live inside the 10

I can't find this UF guy in the top 25 punt average.

Hypothetically, how would one vote multiple times?

Clear cache/cookies and if that doesn't work vote on mobile devices, computer, work computer, coworkers' computers (.../s?), etc.

Or just open link in an incognito window, vote, then close the window and do it again and again and again and again and again and again

Yeah...its way easier than this after you vote there's literally a button that says "return to poll" then you just vote again.

Theoretically would be insanely easy to write a program to vote every second.

(add if applicable) /s

When I do that is says that my vote has already been counted.

Weird its either never counted my votes or its completely broken regardless. Still should be able to just refresh incognito tabs over and over again.

Figured out what's happening. If your at work and your work blocks facebook your votes aren't counting. The vote script calls through facebook and is getting blocked by the firewall and failing.

my work doesnt block fb and also i can return to poll and continue voting

I can't tell you whats happening without being on your network but you can see in the Network window of chrome (F12 > Netwrok tab) clear everything before you click vote then click vote. The vote request goes through a facebookplugin and will turn red if it fails but deliver absolutely no notification to the user.

I'm also just guessing that its failing to count the vote. I have no idea what that plugin does. It could just be analytics after the vote is processed but reading the other requests that its making it seems to be tied in with the vote.

I use Facebook Container in Firefox, which blocks any Facebook scripts from outside the container and keeps everything inside the container isolated, so I guess I won't be voting.

I did my part, you can pick more than one punter. it would also have been nice if they added some stats to selection screen so people could make an informed decision.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

Why is this a fan vote?

I'ts really simple.... It creates views. Views lead to ads. Ads lead to revenue. Lots of these awards across all sports have some fan vote that's not really meaningful in the end.

Vote people we will win!

Bump. GO VOTE.

Here's the link if you don't want to go through Twitter. I just voted 5 times by going back through the menu.

Ok can anyone link to the UF guys stats? How is he running away with this?

Yea not seeing what has him so high, honestly I'm surprised the A&M punter who is having a decent year and won it last year isn't even a semifinalist.

Easy, he has more people stuffing the vote like it was described in other posts. Any kind of popular vote open to the public like this is a joke as people will game the system.

Meant more why the Ray Guy committee included him and not A&M punter.

A&M guy is pretty comparable to the others

We need the hero fixer who won us the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show my junior year to get this poll swinging back towards Oscar.

"What kind of person would throw away a perfectly good dog?"

As I say on election day, vote early, vote often!

Now finish up them taters; I'm gonna go fondle my sweaters.

AUSSIE! AUSSIE! AUSSIE! OI! OI! OI!

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
β€œI served in the United States Navy"

Another vote for Oscar, but he's still not near the lead.

I'm not sure how far the fan vote goes... below from the Ray Guy site.

The Ray Guy Award winner is selected by a voting body of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) sports information directors, national media and former Ray Guy Award winners. Punters are evaluated on their overall statistics and contribution to the team. Particular emphasis is placed on the following statistics; net average, percentage of total punts inside the 20-yard line and percentage of punts not returned.

Based on the emphasis, we have a little bit to go vs. Townsend who boasts a higher I-20 and Fair Catch percentages. Oscar takes the cake on distance/net average.

My understanding (which isn't good) is that the Fan vote essentially counts as a single (extra) media vote.

Bradburn now leads by a very small margin

Why isn't the entire country of Australia voting him up?

We put the K in Kwality

Someone should translate it for them and post it to some .au websites.

Just voted and Oscar is in the lead as of this post

Oscar is 2nd by 0.4%, VOTE HOKIES VOTE!!

Glory is Forever, Let's Go Hokies!!

Oscar in 2nd by 1.5%. Surely we have some CS majors that could help.

So fan vote means nothing? Wasn't UF guy 1 and Oscar 2?

I guess when your team's suck you punt a lot?!

How is the Cuss punter on there??? He isn't in top 2 for any punting category.

Wow. Just wow. This is why awards are crap.

Plus how are finalist out with still regular season games to go, plus conference championships and bowl games.

Bowl games are not taken into consideration and I am not even sure the conference championships are either (not sure when the ballots are due.)

Since this is a "National" award, they probably realized he was an Aussie and omitted him. (/s)

I hope this lights a fire under Bradburn's foot on Friday and he punts the ball clear out of Scott Stadium. (not /s)

"Nooooooooooo!"

"James Franklin to Virginia Tech...."
~Fuck me......*sigh*
"Oh my God.... They're gonna take all our recruits... like WTF bro...."

Or, hear me out, he never even sees the field. That's what we all really want.

Touchdown Tech!!!

I hope this lights a fire under Bradburn's foot on Friday and he punts the ball clear out to the 1 yard line of Scott Stadium.

So it's rigged? Otherwise the finalists make no sense whatsoever

Sean

Yeah, but he's still a contender for the James Gayle Trash Tweet of the Year award:
