Hard to give the chair force credit but that was pretty entertaining
All y'all jealous they slept in hotels and ate hot meals on deployments.
Slept in an air conditioned trailer with WiFi.
Only jealous in garrison, really. Deployment conditions are what they are depending on branch, job, and luck. And while there were definitely times I would have rather had AF accommodations downrange, all the shitty parts build character and make for much better stories.
I don't know my best friend was Security Forces in the Air Force and got to witness the best story I've heard out of Iraqi Freedom.
Sitting security detail at the airport and they get a group of Air National Guardsmen to supplement them. First night on duty one of them manages to blow up the mail truck with the MK-19 mounted on the Humvee. So for the next 6 months that squads rotation was the Gitmo flight. Baghdad to Afghanistan to Gitmo and back every other night.
What the hell, man? Mail took long enough as it was! Air Guard gonna Air Guard though. Smh.
That's pretty funny, but I don't know how it fits into the branch accommodations in-country conversation. It does, however, reinforce my comment about shitty situations making for better stories.
As much as that mission would have sucked, it would have made those 6 months fly by. Everyone knows those 6-month deployments sure are the worst. /S
It was supposed to be TDY from Turkey for 6 weeks where he was stationed.

As a fellow Army guy, the Navy one had me rolling and I was wondering where they would go with Army. I'd say Army's was pretty tame. I'm actually pretty disappointed.
My favorite was the Navy clip until Army came up. I just can't not laugh at Stripes. The first half anyway.
I'm not even mad. I'm just disappointed ...at the AF. All the ways they could have gone with that, and they pick a movie virtually universally loved. And while yes, those particular characters were ate up, they took on the Commies, rescued their bros, got the girls, medals, and the magazine covers. Just saying, they need help in the roasting department. I mean, hell, they could've used footage with Pauly Shore from In the Army Now.
Yeah, I'm not sure if they were even going for the roast there. Just comedic effect.
