What is happening with the Lunch Pail?

Article this morning in Roanoke Times.

Babcock said on a conference call with reporters. "You'll just see it being used a little less and we will always celebrate that era and not shy away from it, but that will be different and change."

Darryl Tapp will keep it, as he has for the last 13 years. Forever and ever, Amen.

Never mind. Didn't need answering lol

Thanks for posting that article.

Wow, I really don't want to see it go. And if everyone is OK with it, I don't know why they wouldn't keep using it. For me it's part of the program. I like that they take dirt from the vanquished. Sort of like the guy in "Saving Private Ryan".

That said, J Ham gets to run the program the way he wants. And that means he gets to put his mark on it. Doesn't all have to be looking back.

there is some relevant discussion also in this (link) thread

I wonder if they will award defensive player of the week by donning Foster's Murray State jersey number on deserving player, kind of like #25 go on special team player of the week. I pity the soul of whoever is tackled by Bud Foster's jersey number.

Celebrate the past, but turn the page. I like a slogan or battle cry that occurs naturally. I don't like contrived ones....it feels fake and hollow. If this team really comes together, I bet a new battle cry will be born in the locker room or more likely on the practice field. You can't fake esprit de corps.

This remind me of a scene from a short lived TV sitcom, Space: Above and Beyond.

It was a good run. I feel historic now.
