Eh, take care of business and the ranking will take care of itself. I'll gladly take the added motivation for the good guys
"We was robbed!"
Memphis beat us out of #25 by one point. Probably woulda beaten them out if we hadn'tve taken that knee at the one. /s
Found it interesting big ten teams are already ranked.
The rule they're going with this season is that a conference is eligible for the poll once they're scheduled to play
the following week.Big Ten doesn't play for 3 more weeks.
I believe I read they were eligible once their schedule was released.
I assume this is because of the Big 10 getting included in the new poll?
Definitely
Wait how do we drop out of the top 25 for winning convincingly?
We were only ranked because the Big 10 wasn't previously eligible.
Ahh. Thanks for the heads up. Thought the ranking was too good to be true.
Na we got dropped, even with the 4 Big10 teams and the 1 pac12 team we'd still be 25th.
VT moved way up when the UVA game was canceled

You're right; we'd have been #25 last week. Mississippi State jumped up after beating LSU, and nobody dropped behind us.
The major change was new teams.
and the PAC-12 as well...Oregon went from not ranked at all (in either poll) to being 14 in the AP.
Should have postponed again /s
If you thought selecting teams for the playoff was controversial before, just you wait until a 6-0 Ohio State with cancellations against Penn St. and Michigan gets in over 11-1 Clemson or something. I have a feeling this is gonna get ugly quick.
I get the sentiment, but that example is way too extreme. It would never happen.
You still underestimate 2020, I see.
seriously... we're just at the 3/4 mark of 2020 and there is still plenty of time for more things to go sideways, inverted, etc... dont temp 2020 to do more than it already has.
Why would 11-1 Clemson get in over 12-0 VT anyways?
We'd have played Clemson twice so we'd have a loss of that's clemson's record or Clemson will have 2 if that's our record
Na, you're think all to wrong, it will be a 6-2 OSU with the losses being "because of covid" going over a 10-0 teams from another conference.
I was looking to see if anyone had posted the preseason AP poll and thought maybe I somehow missed it which caused me to randomly come back and scroll thru this thread, but I just wanted to reply here to acknowledge just how accurate this comment was
23 if the coaches poll if you are that worried about it 😋
I don't think anyone has ever worried about the Coach's Poll, especially the coaches who are supposedly voting in it.
Of course the absolute wrong message taken from LSU Miss St. Miss St's roster has not improved that much in 6 months and LSU has 3 guys who started on the national championship team. But yeah the message we should take from yesterday's game is that they're both good.
Also OU's win against Missouri State must've been pretty damn impressive if they're still ranked so high above K State, Arkansas State and Memphis.
I know it's disappointing we aren't ranked, but hey maybe if we beat Duke we'll shoot up to the top 10. Clearly worked for Notre Dame
What has UNCheat done to be ranked so high?
The Force is strong with Tobacco Road
Absolutely nothing. This is the Mack Brown effect. Hopefully we bring them back down to earth in a few weeks.
They will fall that much farther when we beat them in a couple of weeks
Hopefully, we'll be back in the rankings soon. I'm still glad we had the #20 ranking, however briefly, to reset the "last time we were ranked" timestamp.
Also, more likely to be ranked again in the coming weeks as we continue to win, in spite of the Big 10 unearned spots.
It's the AP poll. 90% of the voters have watched only 10% of the teams play. Take it for what it is.
and who actually has ACCN?
Anyone who refuses to use stupid comcast!
YoutubeTV
The base sports package is actually amazing
Its perfect for my house. I would never even have cable if it wasn't for sports.
thats about $65 more per month than i want to pay
I dropped cable and now have xfinity internet with AT&T TV... cut my bill in half and I have access to every channel that I need. But I do live in NOVA......
I knew northern virginia was a growing area but when did it expand to cover Newport News, NewportHokie?
Moved the fam to Spotsy 5yrs ago.... SpotsyHokie sounds crazy.... lol
Fam we had 6 ranked teams lose to unranked teams yesterday. With us being the 1st team out last week, we should crack the poll somewhere around #20.... Now lets hope we get some of our players back because we won't survive better teams with such a depleted D.
At minimum Memphis, Pitt, and Oklahoma will drop out. I agree we will be in that 20-22 spot.
Miss St. will still be ranked but possibly behind us. Texas is the interesting one. Barely beat TT and losing at home to an unranked team. They had no business at 9 as it was.
