Jeff Goodman tweeted a link to an article that details allegations from current and former players regarding Marshall's busier behavior during his tenure with the Shockers.
Wichita State forward Shaq Morris told Stadium that he was punched twice by coach Gregg Marshall during a 2015 practice. Marshall also allegedly choked assistant coach Kyle Lindsted during the 2016-17 season, three eyewitnesses told Stadium.
Morris played professionally in Japan last season, and said he "does not love basketball any more because of Gregg Marshall." Morris chose to go public at this time after hearing stories about Marshall from a current player.
This is terrible news. So glad we didn't hire this guy. It will be interesting to see what comes of the investigation and what actions WSU and the NCAA take.

you could say this revelation is a big shocker.
If this is true, this is beyond f*cked up. Who punches their own players? Or tries to choke an assistant coach on their own team?
This is straight up illegal stuff.
Yeah I'm not sure how he got away with both acts at the time. Both cases definitely assault and if they were covered over by the higher ups...phew this could get ugly.
I mean, Bobby Knight made the HOF doing this sh!t.
I was about to say... Knight epitomized this behavior and went unchecked for years.
This is what happens when you put 3 g's in Greg
Agent Coulson would like a word
Gregg Williams also confirms this
The extra G is for gutpunch
Can't imagine this from a guy who married such a classy lady
^^^
Needs more legs
This is probably why he never left Wichita State for a bigger program. He knows he is basically the mayor of Wichita. If he went to a big time program and pulled this, he would just be replaced.
Or he just failed background checks and never got an offer to leave/never found a program desperate enough to hire him...
I was thinking the same thing. He's basically their Frank Beamer...apparently just angrier.
I don't know about this situation, but would be incredibly surprised if this is true. Have a connection and Gregg is definitely a firecracker, but abuse is a strong charge.
Would you even say shocked?
A couple people on their board confirming the story about Marshall trying to punch a track athlete is 100% true. Supposedly paid the victim to keep quiet about it
Donezo
Can he coach football? Asking for a friend..
You're avatar...It should be the avatar of this thread...
I'm pretty sure our defense has been abused enough this year, no reason to add to it.
So when is Liberty going to hire him?
It's funny cuz its true.
Resigns and gets a 7 mill payout. Must be nice.
Fuente going to get fired and get a 10-12.5 payout π€
Muschamp is going to get $50MM from USCe (contract earnings plus buyout). Based on what I had seen from his games he doesn't appear to know anything about the game of football.
There are 33 coaches with bigger buyouts then Fuente right now. Crazy what college football has come to. 15 of them greater then $20M remaining on their buyouts.
I was wondering about this the other day. We all give Whit a hard time about the buyout structure, but it is not at all out of the norm, and the package was not extravagant for the level of coach we thought he was at the time.
UAB and Utah have more then $9M pending if either wanted to buyout their coach. Rutgers would have to pony up more than $24M to send Schiano packing.
In Schiano's defense, he turned Rutgers into a winning program and took them to bowls for the first time in over 20 years. He knows what he is doing in that market. Anywhere else???
Kentucky would have to pay Mark Stoops $24M as well.
As for Rutgers, it took Schiano 5 years to get to a winning record and that was when they were Big East, even after the big programs left the BE, he only managed 11 wins in 2006, after that it was 8-5 or 9-4 for a few years until 4-8 in 2010, after which he decided to try his hand at the NFL. They are 1-3 this year in Big 10 play, even with Schiano, I cant imagine them getting much above .500 against that slate of schools.
true, but lets be honest, going .500 in the Big ten for football would probably have the administration ecstatic over where they are now and would be a winning program most likely with some fluff opponents for OOC.
it took that big of a buyout to get Schiano to even consider signing. it's not insurance for the school in case another program comes calling, it's insurance for Schiano. Rutgers is a 2-3 win program without him. They might be that way with him for a few years, but if he can keep a few blue chippers in-state instead of them heading off to PSU, Michigan, and ND in droves, they could be uppity. Their ceiling is "agent of team chaos" though.
Did you see Franklin's (PSU)? $38MM
I'd say Fuente's is fair market.
I'd go even further and say we got a deal with the buyout total... Still, I dont like it.
Great piece by Godfrey over at Banner Society that touches on this:
