Leg for the sentiment, and I'd give another for the Good Will Hunting reference if I could.

Reading about a perfect whip is kind of like listening to a salesman try to sell you a top of the line CD player. If this was five years ago, I'd be all about it.

Now, honestly, if this young man is as advertised, he'll find a spot where he's on the field way more than the whip is. It just makes me wonder how familiar this coach is with our defense to be promoting his player for a position that's on the field about 30% of the time.

Or quite literally anyone other than Roger Goodell.

Oh! I got ya now. Everything I've heard suggests this might all be decided by July, so I wasn't thinking about the proceedings dragging into the season.

But you bring up a really good point. If Shai isn't with the team at the start of the season, would he still be eligible for a redshirt? Not sure what rules there are about suspended players.

I'm now left with the usual questions. Why did he do it? Was he serious? Was this a cry for help? Trying to look cool? Trying to make a thread explode? Is he a psychopath or is he depressed?

In the end, none of it excuses what he did. But I've never been able to say, "Oh good, they caught the guy," and then forget about it.

If he is legally cleared, I would be shocked if the contributing charge factors in any way into the decision of whether or not to redshirt him. I don't see that happening. Now we can have a conversation about whether he should be allowed to rejoin the team even if the charges are dropped, but it seems the writing is on the wall. Multiple coaches have made comments implying he will be reinstated if the legal side gets cleared up.

I picked it because I really like that Loefflerism, but it does have a certain finality to it, doesn't it?

OK, I don't feel stupid. I don't think that was a major back in my day. Or of it was I just never heard of it.
