God I hate early season polls. Five winless teams in the top 25. First media polls should come out after week 4, just to give an opportunity for things to settle.

Isn't Notre Dame specifically mentioned as being considered a P5 program in the CFP selection rules?

VolNation is a pretty reasonable board. I remember a lot of the talk there after the '09 Chick-fil-a Bowl was that we were a legit top 15 team and they honestly weren't at our level, rather than the typical SEC homerism bullshit and temper tantrums.

Don't Panic. As much as our fanbase wants to panic right now, VT had similar issues as us in Week #1. The only difference is that they played a cupcake game and we played quite possibly the best G5 team in America.

Well, there's also the difference that Butch Jones has been their coach for three years, meaning his system should be 100% installed by now, and Justin Fuente had never coached a live down of regular season football for VT prior to Saturday...

God. That reeked of someone who desperately wants to sound like they are knowledgeable about football but hasn't a clue. It's telling when someone's predictions about other teams only talks about its head coach, because that means he has no knowledge about the actual program itself. And his comment that a pairing of Fuente and Foster can't work really sounds more like desperate longing than the authoritative voice he's striving for.

Also, when was the last time Virginia out-toughed and out-efforted anyone? Groh and London turned them into a program of creampuffs that folds the second they get punched in the mouth. Forget knowing the other Coastal programs, this clown doesn't even know his own.

I have never believed this had anything at all to do with level of play on the field, and haven't heard it insinuated anywhere. This is about something behind the scenes, and is most likely about sending a message about expectations for players and what happens if they are not met.

Nah. Had a TD before the half to get it started. Still, a 23 point quarter is insane.

So we're nearing the midway point of the third quarter, and I still have no idea what to make of either Ole Miss or FSU.

Says unofficial right at the top. No way Fuente tips his cards this early. This is probably based on the preseason depth chart, and taking into account that Alexander is now available. Let's not overthink ourselves.

This reminds me of something French said a while back when giving a first impression of Fuente's offense at Memphis. I'm paraphrasing here because I am too lazy to fine the exact quote, but basically while you're watching it, it doesn't feel like the offense is doing anything amazing. Then you look up at the scoreboard and they're up 30 points and have 500 yards. That's exactly what yesterday felt like to me. Obvious growing pains and some misfires, then the announcer says "And with that play, the Hokies are over 500 yards of offense." And I'm like, are you shitting me?

Seriously? Oh man. All this time I thought it was Spanish for "a whale's vagina."

I don't think there's ever been an up and coming generation that has been collectively shat upon nearly so much as the Millennials. I'm too old to be considered a Millennial by a couple of years (born in '79) but I can tell you I identify more strongly with my Millennial friends than I do with my slightly older Gen X peers.

Saw this on Reddit and thought of VT_Fencer. This is Ana Maria Popescu winning gold for Romania in the women's team epee.
