And this holds true in every facet of recruiting. Not to open an old wound, but when Josh Sweat was nearing his decision, we sent every single assistant coach to visit him in the week leading up to his announcement. Do you think there was another recruit that got a home visit from the whole staff that cycle?

Blue chips are treated like blue chips. The problem starts when the fawning continues after the LOI is signed. First day of practice, it doesn't matter how many stars you had.

I really don't think there is. They aren't even students at the University yet. I know there are guidelines about what a school can and cannot do on an official visit (no simulating a game environment, etc.) but I don't think there's anything that says all recruits must be treated equally on campus. I mean, why would this be the one area in recruiting where the NCAA says you can't play favorites in the recruiting process.

Based on what? So long as all recruits (and now 2 parents/guardians) get free room and board on their official, is there anything that says all recruits must receive comparable accommodations? That doesn't happen in any other area of recruiting. Five and high four star recruits always get more attention in their recruiting than the average recruit. That's just the way it is. Unless there's actually a rule that every official visit must be comparable, I see no reason not to wine and dine the top recruits a little more.

I'm not sure there's that much leniency for older women dating younger men. Certainly Western society has loosened up on this a bit over the last decade or two, but in general we notice an older woman/younger man much more than and older man/younger woman.

Not to say there's actually anything wrong with an older woman dating a younger man, just that it doesn't seem as socially acceptable.

After watching this a couple more times, I really like this guy. It seems like he is all about mastering the fundamentals, then building something great on that foundation. And someone needed to explain to Strohman a long time ago that running away makes the lane longer. Now carry that knowledge with you into punt returns, Greg.

I was driving to a job interview. I had the radio on, and as I was flipping channels I caught the tail end of a news report about something at Virginia Tech. I had a buddy who was doing graduate work at VT at the time. I gave him a call but his wife answered. My buddy was in class. She hadn't had the news on yet that morning, so she knew nothing about what was going on. She thought maybe it had something to do with wind damage, because there had been nearly hurricane-force winds in Blacksburg that morning. I said okay, hung up and kept driving.

The interview was in another town, so it was a long drive. A few minutes later I caught a full mews report and found out about the shootings. I called my friend's wife back and told her to find out where he was.

The rest of the drive was surreal, because the number grew with each successive report. Radio doesn't drop everything for breaking news coverage the way TV does, so in between songs it would go from "Seven people have been killed in a shooting on the campus of Virginia Tech..." to "Twelve dead at Virginia Tech... " to "Reports are coming in that there are at least 20 victims in the mass shooting in Blacksburg this morning..." It just kept creeping up, which alone in my car made it feel like I was living through it as it happensed. I don't think the number had been set at 32 by the time I got to the interview.

As for my buddy, he was okay. As it turned out, he had just stepped off the bus in front of Burruss as the shots started to ring out in Norris. He was close enough to hear them.

If you want the truth on a kid go the the lunch ladies and office assistants because those are the people who give these kids things. You see the a better picture of people when they are given things.

The best measure of a man's character is how he treats those from whom he stands to gain nothing.
