How's our debate team looking?

UVA womens team just got a huge pickup from overseas.

They got Emilie Brzonova, 13.8 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists while shooting at a 48-percent clip from three-point range at the FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket 2024. She also played for Faenza Basket Project in the Italian Serie A2 which is a top ten league in Europe.

For OOC games the coaches have to agree and inform Umpires before game starts. Normally ten runs for baseball.

I'll pay attention and let you know when I get to it. I just finished the episode in FLA where the British couple got attacked at the rest stop (*early* early in the series)

The episode before that hit me in the feels, the one where the husband was propositioning his wife to step out of the marriage (trying to avoid too many spoilers for folks)

To your point, I know I shouldn't binge these but I'll be dammed if James doesn't get me rolling with his dark humor

Rowing is a sport. Tech just doesn't really offer it.

It's a scene from the movie Jerry Maguire. In it, Kush (can't remember his first name) is a QB projected to be the #1 pick in the NFL Draft, and Jerry is his agent. They're in their suite the night before the draft, waiting for festivities on the morrow.

KingJames put up a pic of Kush from the movie, so I took it from there, as I am wont to do from time to time. ;^)

Do they box each other while rowing? Or is the 'rowing' some sort of 'boxing move"? /s

I honestly have no idea what this is. Lol!

He actually had Dr. Warren Booth on last week to discuss boa constrictors. Dr. Booth is an evolutionary geneticist and Associate Professor of Urban Entomology in the Entomology Dept. at VT. He also keeps and breeds snakes.

We were also the first time a 9 win ACC team had been snubbed from the Tourney, IIRC.

The goalposts just kept changing. I guess pissing off the committee was the "certifiably insane" move.

I've got a boat trailer issue right now. When I pulled the pontoon boat from the water in the fall, I forgot to raise the motor and it caught, snapping the winch strap. Sure enough, when I released the trailer from the hitch, up it went in the air. Right now I have a cinder block under the back transom (?) of the trailer, holding it mostly down, but I'm going to have to figure out how to get the hitch all the way down to hitch it back up. Once I swap out the tires (which should be interesting, considering), I need to re-float the boat in order to winch it back up to where it should sit.

And then I can get to work replacing all of the seating, which looks like was eaten by rabid squirrels. But that's what you get when you inherit a boat with the house. /shrug

James and Jimmie are great

I don't know if you skip the end parts (I usually do), but you need to listen to them at least once. Jimmie reads off the names of all the "executive producers", which are really just donors via Patreon and other sources, and it's hilarious. He's really bad with names, and he gets so frustrated, it's great fun to listen to.

I'm currently about 160-170 episodes in (30-40 from around last August when I was recommended the series, and 130 in from the beginning). They're perfect for a 1h15m to 1h30m commute, I finish an episode each workday, essentially, weaving in the occasional TSL podcast. That's why I'm looking to branch out, because I think listening to this all the time is probably not the healthiest thing.

That said, if you're starting from the beginning, let me know when you get to Rulo, Nebraska. *shudders*

I had no idea that women's rowing and boxing was even a sport.

Naw, I'm sick of him already. I got Kush-lash.

๐ŸŽถ Kush-lash...Kush-lash...Kush-lash-Kush-lash-Kush-laaaaash! ๐ŸŽต

Yes as the number of years VT has existed approaches infinity !

Torgeson was great. He was promoted to Pres while still actually teaching that semester. He would come into his class and bitch about being the President about half the time while still covering the needs of the class. He was always up for a Tennis game with whoever wanted to play.

The biggest thing that he probably did was increase the President's salary to the point that people like Steger and Sands were willing to come to Tech. Of course, Torgeson also donated the entire increase to the base pay of President of the University back to the University.
