I think its great that the coaching staff is teaching more nuanced parts of football the the students. I dont understand why most players aren't involved in learning how to break down film to bring in other players as its a big part of the game.
This is a sport for amatuers right? Having the amatuers invovled to the maximum extent makes sense right?
Imagine how loud it would be if we started winning, played night games, and had the students stay past halftime...

Crazy for a guy that averaged less than 2 tackles per game....I get that he created opportunities for teammates and disrupted additional plays but just nuts he gets a say in who they pursued in the portal.
I will be satisfied with visible improvements. I see the plan, I see it being executed, I see the effort, I want to see the result.
Year 1 vs a better program, they showed some fight but a lot to improve on
Call me crazy, but I will be fucking pissed if we go 6-6 again. I won't be particularly pleased with 7-5 either. I've had enough of settling for that kind of mediocrity for the last decade. This program and its fanbase used to be massively disappointed with 9 win seasons. I'm old enough to remember it, and old enough to still hold this place to that kind of standard. I refuse to relent on that and I think the fanbase in general should refuse to accept another year of 6-6, or 7-5 mediocrity.
I don't care how many new faces are on the roster. I don't care that we have new coordinators. I have zero good will left for this staff and this AD. Lesser programs have been figuring out how to win with year-one rosters and brand new coaches. I'm no longer satisfied by a win/loss record that delivers only empty platitudes about how we are "headed in the right direction". The time to start heading in the right direction was two fucking years ago. The time for Pry & this staff to figure this shit out, was two fucking years ago. Now, it's time to win games. Period. Win games, or it's scorched earth time for this athletic department.
If anyone understands rooting against your alma mater, it's me. So I do not begrudge your stance.
I agree but it would be so easy. Just move on from the mediocre Northern Illinois coach when he's 4-20 (or whatever) vs P4 teams that finished over .500 in year 7
Beamer never really gave us the home town discount though. He was always around the top after '99 until around 2011 where it was just everyone seeing how much he had left on the team. He made similar to Paterno and Bowden.

I've always had a little soft spot for them because, in ACC terms, they have a pretty loyal fanbase for a program that seems incapable of breaking through their mediocre ceiling.

Guitarman can probably correct me, but my understanding is that this was a university wide issue where our professors were being noticeably underpaid relative to peer institutions (aka Charles Steger was drinking the Beamer Kool Aid), and that one of the first things Sands fixed after arriving was paying faculty 'market' rates.
For a long time, this was definitely true. When President Sands took over in 2015, we were in the lower 25-33% of peer institutions in faculty compensation. People bolted quickly, as soon as something better came along. President Sands made it a priority to move us up in that ranking, and with help from the VA General Assembly providing funding, we are now middle of the pack (somewhere in the upper 50%, not great but a heck of a move in 10 years relative to the decades prior).
Anecdotally, I had a high-ranking administrator once lament to me, "I loved Dr. Steger, great guy, but his thought was 'why should the faculty be making more than the guy shoveling snow, they're both important.'"
