It would almost be better if big donors moved business and invested in Roanoke.
Better for who lol? Yea, it would be great if all our wealthy and successful entrepreneurs moved to Roanoke, opened offices there, and then had even more incentive to donate in order to get the best gameday experience.
But that's not close to reality lol
For that kind of money, you probably expect some tournament wins.
Lawal is awaiting to see how much money is coming his way from Tech versus others.
Buzz might be an ego maniac, but I was happy to support his summer camp for kids, etc. He had a winning record as well. To replace him with Beard??? I guess winning is more important.
Awesome- my mission for the past year was avoiding big numbers. Helps with everything really
The vultures/scum usual suspects are circling Lawal... Louisville, Clemson, Kansas, Dayton, Ole Miss. Bottom of the barrel coaches trying to poach him.
Happy to volunteer if there is any community interest in doing these again?
Patiently awaiting Lawal's post....
Ashton Jeanty played on a better team with more talent across the board than VT has. Boise is bigger than us, faster than us, tougher than us. Had we played them last year we would have lost by 3 scores. I saw them in person, as I did the Hokies- no comparison. They are bigger, stronger, faster more physical pretty much everywhere. This isn't 1998. Boise is as good as anyone in the ACC now- including on par with Clemson, IMO.
Tyler Johnson also confirmed he is returning
He's backkkkk‼️ Watch what T does with it 📈📈 pic.twitter.com/QayrgaIoGo— Virginia Tech Men's Basketball (@HokiesMBB) April 3, 2025
Agreed.
Winning is more important than your very public, face of the program, 6 mil per year coach's history of beating women. The Baller Industrial Complex.
Hammond confirmed he is returning

Let's not simplify him to that. Jeanty put up 192 yards and 3 TDs on Oregon (allowed 130 total rushing yards average). He went over 100 yards against Penn State (allowed 101 Total rushing yards average), who only allowed one other 100 yard game all season. In other games against the Pac 2 he had 259 yards and 4 TDs against Wazzu(allowed 175 total rushing yards average) and 226 and a TD against Oregon State(allowed 185 total rushing yards average). In their conference championship against UNLV (allowed 115 total rushing yards average) he went for 209 and a TD.
Do I think he will be an otherworldly pro? No. Do I think he will be successful as long as he has a decent O Line? Absolutely.
The smoke I am hearing down here is that A&M was in talks with Chris Beard to come there but that broke down (and A&M is pissed about it), and I think Buzz might have heard about it (if not outright told to look for another job) which is why he left for Maryland.

You beat me to it. Jeanty excelled against bad teams.

I also remember the turkey and gravy being decent. You needed that gravy to stomach the mashed potatoes.
I bought a Hungry Man fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn and the real reason to ever buy one, the brownie. Seems like Banquet and Swanson had the same baker. It was fun trying to figure out what parts of the chicken the pieces were, but they did have enough flavor to eat. I totally passed on the corn, I mean why mess up the vibe with something that might sorta be a teeny bit not so bad for you?
Notice that Maryland eliminated swimming, as it wasn't ever going to contribute to their football or basketball budgets.
And this is why what is going on in college athletics is such a travesty.
He discovered that he had a thing for Old Bay.
His style of "management" is abrasive to every administration because he is smart enough to include clauses in his contract that give him total control plus the support he deems necessary to be successful. It just causes alot of friction and from all accounts he had worn out his welcome at A&M. Add to that that his success wasn't elite success but more good but not great so A&M was tired of it and it wasn't costing them a string of championships to see him gone.
Buzz went 120-73 at A&M. .622 winning percentage. 56-44 in SEC play. .560 winning percentage. Just above .500 in conference. First two years there were tough but best season record was 27-13 in 2021-22 and they finished NIT Runner Up. Best conference record was 15-3 in 2022-23 and finished second in the SEC. He took them to NCAAT three times but never advanced past round of 32.
He wants to be close to a Target

I'm feeling a bit antsy about the men's team since we have 9 open spots and haven't filled a single one yet. I know it's still early, but I also know that 20% of the top 100 in the portal have already committed elsewhere...
