Meanwhile, U.S. debt tops $36 trillion.
It's ALL related.
Man that just happened to me a month or so ago. Was hired in November on a contract to hire with a 90 day wait before being brought in. New CTO comes in and on a whim cancels all contracts overnight, no questions asked, thousands of people let go. And I had about 2 weeks to go before I would convert.
Joke's on them, found another role by the end of the day that came with a raise over what they were paying me. Morons
Mind you, this company had its stock trading at a 5 year high with record profits in 2024. There was no need for the layoffs, they just wanted to look good for shareholders.
Hmm...wonder what could be going on here.

Fuck the SEC. Texas blowing their lead against Xavier last night was poetic. 14 teams no more, pick something else to talk about.
I'm sorry brother. I recently went through that and it really sucks. A lot. I wish you the very best
It is very fucking tough "out here" right now. Very. But the Eagles can't sell 2K dollar sphere tickets fast enough and Davidson hoops boosters light money on fire to try to win the A 10.
Yep- thats my angle. You go 6-12 in your league you don't belong. Period. I don't care how "tough" the league is supposed to be. That's like going 4-8 in SEC football and getting 10 of the 12 playoff spots. Which might also be coming.
I'm just here to root for every SEC team to lose.
Sounds like my company .... that is currently laying off about 50% of the workforce one by one today

I'm in! Good luck fam.
But hey, now they get to go out and praise themselves for saving us a bunch of money by canceling ventures, just ignore that $20m we lit on fire last year.
Praise portal?
And that is just for phase 1. There is no way just the planning process for the first phase could cost this much. My company would have loved to get this contract.

So $20m went to a project we completely canceled before it got going?
Boy does that ever seem like we got taken for a ride
As you are well aware, we will not win a team wrestling title until we get our own regional camp/facility that we run. Penn State did this years ago- and certainly broke many ncaa rules, but that cat is out of the bag. Until we get this, we will simply not beat PSU, OSU, Iowa at the NCAA level.
Unless there are 1. Limits on salaries for players and 2. Limits on the amount of times and when a player can transfer - Virginia Tech is done as a major competitor in the P4. Not negativity, not hyperbole. Our opportunity to be a top 6 ish ACC hoops team was to get old and have Mike Young out coach folks- especially with HOF coaches leaving. That is gone now- you can't get old and win a couple games in the NCAAs every 2-3 years. St. Marys, Dayton, VCU, perhaps Creighton will start to feel this too. We can't do that anymore. Our team leaves every year. In football- much of the same- Find 3 stars you can redshirt, develop and nab a 4 star QB, DE to compliment and use the brand and enter sandman, etc to recruit top 25 HS classes. All of those things are essentially out the window now. So for us to be competitive we need the money to hire Pat Kelsey or Bruce Pearl or Chris Beard and we need the money to buy them a roster. We have never done either. We need to win on the football field to raise or recruiting profile- so we need to buy a Jackson Dart, A legit DE, a pro level corner, etc to win first. IMO, we are done unless major changes are made.
FSU didn't boatrace them but did beat Alabama 5-2.
Gotta say, some of my picks made me feel icky
We need to boatrace their a$$.
I don't know who set it up or if was automatic. Just noticed this morning that there were 8 people in there....up to 16 now.
This is the basis of it - scholarship limits are going away across all sports in favor of just having roster limits. The university has sufficient cash reserves to manage the upcoming year of NIL with the House settlement coming that provides for institutions to provide $20.5M in funding. The problem for us (and any schools in the state) is that Virginia has the most restrictive laws associated with athletics across the country. We can't use E&G (education and general fund) money - tuition and state appropriations - for any of this, and central university funds can't subsidize athletics by more than 20%. Unless the law changes, that's our problem. Hence the increase in fees.
Survey data of alumni consistently show that athletics is a core part of what drives positive feelings about the university and the shared experiences they bring. The university has an obligation to the NRV because our athletics events (mostly football) generate $100M for the local economy each year.

Sorry to hear that.
