Entering portal protects him in case Hokies have moved on before NCAA decision/court case is resolved.
Ami I interpreting that kind correctly that both parties want him to be a Hokie, but this is a "just in case" type of move?
Saw online that mackie nelson is visiting tennessee... Honestly she could be a good fit for caldwells system
Hopefully all the big recruits are on board with these
I would love to see a real budget break down between instruction, administration, and facility upgrades. My take from my time in school and when I went through the process to be a student rep for the BOV is that admin and facility upgrade costs are out of control.
One recent example is the push to eliminate the LLCs due to overhead costs. As someone who was in galileo for 2 years, the things that made galileo good were free. They added nonsense expenses and staff when the true benefit is the concentration of students in the dorms and mentorship.
Any time you look at any level of education you see student numbers reasonably flat, teachers increasing just slightly more than students, and then administrative overhead going insane. At every level we keep throwing money at this black hole with no increase in quality of education and if anything the quality is decreasing as spending increases.
Politics shouldn't be the driving force in selecting a new president, either, but it seems like it will be in this case.
I know someone at Octo, now IBM. Very well managed business and at the time of acquisition all employees were retained. Not sure about now but high retention rate normally indicates a very well built org. But that doesn't necessarily mean he builds a well organized business. at some point the founder/ceo is mostly just working strategy and selling. the management they hire just below them become in charge of building and maintaining the organization.
all that said. Who cares. He's not being brought on BOV to build an organization. The new President will do that, from what I belive is the actual benefit of this BOV change a clear directional voice that understands modern era business and values academics and athletics cooperatively.
Yes because IBM has never made stupid purcahse and ever company evaluation are spot on and greatly reflect the organization of a company.
He was already on the board and no better organization was brought to VT, its been a mess for decades.
He built a company, he didnt take over and fix a company those are different tasks and require different skills, and while building they are often very disorganized because at 10 people he made all the decisions, probably at 100 too but then started to many decisions amd most hang on too long amd still make all decisions at 25people, which then other people just start doing because decisions arent made fast enough which break organizations up and causes other issues, but its working so ignore the cracks amd by the tI me you have 1000 people its running and people are doing and other companies are ready to buy you so you dont fix cause it cost money which hurts your evaluation so you keep letting bad organization exist because its cheaper than hiring layers of management.
Coach Tanelli out too
No argument here. Blacksburg long ago reached the point where there's weeping and gnashing of teeth no matter which plot of unspoiled land is built on next. Building up instead of out mitigates that to an extent.

# | Mehul Sanghani re-appointed by Governor Spanberger to the VT Board of Visitors today Yes of course. The 1.2 billion dollar sale to IBM of his roughly 1,500 people organization in 2022 was definetly just a "paper tiger."
Im sorry you had a bad experience working somewhere that didnt have a fancy organizational chart but that doesn't have anything do with mehul's credentials. He was also appointed to the board in 2014 and 2018.
The 7'9 center from Florida that averaged 0.5 ppg this season is also reportedly asking for $3M so Neo's asking it is easier to understand than that nonsense.
Its unclear based on the very little I know of octo if he can build an organization, he got his company sold, that doesn't mean internal organization worked well, or if at all. I've worked on a successful mulit-bilion dollar program that has never had a organization chart. It went 7 months with out a PM and still is going, its a mess and communication has always been terrible, but the hire smart people that know when to get out duct tape and bailing wire. when needed. At this point the lessons learned (more like observed) is so large its not useful.l to knowing how to run the program.
And maybe we need some one to build a paper tiger so VT gets "sold" to a P2,, but thats not building an organization.
His final deal will likely never be known, but I can't imagine anything he put on tape last year has any schools offering in that ballpark. If he does fetch this kinda cash, I don't see how college basketball survives.
I mean he knows a thing or two building an organization, sounds like as good of a board pick as any.
best news ever!
Facts shouldn't be political, but I hear you
According to the Greg Roberts radio show out of Roanoke is that the agent for Neo is asking $3 million for his services.
The president has little sway in that. It's up to the Board and the president is not a voting member of the Board. State support on a per-student basis is way down over the last 25 years. This is a political problem so I won't get into it on this forum but there's a reason why VT has to keep increasing its cost. We're getting less and less from the state and the next few years of budget look pretty dicey...
The townies need to decide which way they want the university to expand. It's going to expand, I would think expanding upward and near the university would be preferable to a 3 story sprawl.
Ladies lose 4-3
I hear all that, but they have a Natty in football and basketball and just made the hockey Frozen Four. Find the middle between the good and bad and we would see a step up.
Yep, it's going in right next to the Prices Fork/N Main roundabout next to Kabrich St. Saw a whole comment section full of townies huffing and puffing about it myself recently.

4-3 now after bases loaded walk

Just take a look at education spending vs. numbers of students in just about any NJ public school district if you want to make your head spin.
