ACC Championships are this weekend so here are a couple of highlights since my last update:

-George Couttie set a new program record in the 3000m by 9 seconds (7:40.18) which was good for 11th in the NCAA this season and 19th NCAA All-Time.
-Ryan Fowkes moves into 10th All-Time at VT in the 3000m with his time of 7:59.25.
-Lila Waters moved into the 7th spot on VT's All-Time list in the 3000m with a time of 9:16.23.
-Mary Kate McGranahan moved into the 9th spot in VT's All-Time list in the 5000m with a time of 16:52.46.
-Madison McConico moved up to #6 in VT's record books in the triple jump with her top jump of 12.60m. That is also good for 6th best in the ACC this season.
-Caitlyn Bobb improved her Bermuda national record time in the 400 m to 53.06 which is good for #4 All Time at VT.
-Ali Diaby is now #4 All Time at VT in the 200m with a time of 20.86 which is good for #2 in the ACC this season and 33rd in the NCAA.
-Sara Killinen set another Finland National Record with a throw of 22.76m.
-Barbora Stejfova threw 21.44m which is good for #4 All Time at VT.
-Men's 4x400 ran 3:05.27 which was good for #2 All Time at VT and that foursome did not include JLIV.
-Men's DMR ran a 9:19.88 to set a program record. The ACC men's DMR is no joke. Of the top 10 times in NCAA history, four were set by ACC schools this year. UVA - 1, Wake - 4, UNC - 5, and VT -9th.

Or just have a single portal window that opens the day after each school concludes their season, and a window that closes 2 weeks after the national championship. Here's the catch - schools can start making offers the day after the post-season ends, but players cannot put their name into the portal until their SCHOOL's post-season ends. Schools that dont go bowling or into the playoffs - they get to start recruiting the moment the regular season ends, and gives them maximum time (almost 2 months) to recruit, and it minimizes the amount of time that playoff teams have to see players leave and get players recruited, which in theory could help bring some better parity. Bowl schedules would need to be overhauled entirely so that games like the Duke's mayo bowl which featured teams that could benefit from extra portal time dont get kneecapped because of bad timing. Best way to solve this would be to limit bowl games from happening from only the middle of December (after finals) an up until Jan 1 (basically 2 weeks)...

And all of this assuming the NCAA has any teeth left to make some hard rules about this in the first place. But the net benefit is that there's a single window - and the guys you have going into the Spring are the ones that should be there in the Fall.... unless they get pissy about their NIL deal and just quit, but that would mean they are sitting out an entire year, and unable to resume activities until the subsequent Spring.

Final Results of Note:

-Men's 200 Fly Finals - Landon Gentry took 7th
-Women's 100 Back - Carmen Weiler Sastre finished 6th.
-Men's 100 Back - Mario Molla Yanes finished 7th. Not bad for a guy that hadn't recorded any 100 back times until this fall.
-Men's 100 Breast - Carles Coll Marti finished 4th.
-Men's 400 Medley Relay - VT finished 3rd.
-Women's 1650 Free - Kate Anderson finished 8th.
-Women's 200 Back - Carmen Weiler Sastre finished 5th and Emma Atkinson finished 6th.
-Men's 100 Free - Brendan Whitfield finished 3rd for the 2nd year in a row.
-Men's 200 Breast - Carles Coll Marti takes the win in 1:49.62 breaking his own meet and conference records. This is his 3rd title in the event.
-Women's 400 Free Relay - VT finished 6th.
-Men's 400 Free Relay - VT finished 4th

Hokie women finished the meet in 9th place. The men finished in 6th place, two spots ahead of UVA.

Carles Coll Marti was named the men's meet Most Valuable Swimmer. Coll Marti and Brendan Whitfield were also named to the All-ACC team.

For those who don't know, Tanner is a legend in the industry. Moorehead-Cain scholar at UNC, studied under President Obama while at UofC, became a partner at Williams & Connolly (one of the most prestigious law firms in the world) and was the agent for Tim Duncan, Grant HIll, Jeremy Lin and a slew of other NBA players.

Should be a slam dunk hire (no pun intended) for UNC.

The only chance I ever got to see Vick on the field in person was spring of 2000 when I was 7.

If a program can't figure out how to turn the Spring game into something positive for the program and the fan base that's on them. Hell, if nothing else it's an opportunity for more revenue.

think of the savings we can have when we pay him $50k as an assistant coach and we can just get rid of the rest!

I'd be all for replacing spring games with fall/summer scrimmages against other schools. Or do we call that our OCC schedule?
