Everyone should have gotten a little something from EA sports, jersey sales made sense too, even promos for games and stuff, it's not big money but it's still something. But outside of those types of things there are maybe 1-2 players a year (i think I'm generous) that really had NIL value. Mike Vick had value, Reggie Bush had value, Tim Tebow had value, Caitlin Clark had value, Arch Manning has value from his family. What's his name Milroe does not, I couldn't name very many people from OSUs roster at all.

Am I wrong for feeling like every 9 pm tip off is an insult to our program? I grew up going to University of Dayton games all the time as a kid because they were ALWAYS at 7 pm on a weeknight. Got to "stay up late" on a school night and go to bed around 9:45 when we would get home. Hard to build the next generation of fans when they can't watch the games.

Yeah, the focus on the un-paid labor finally getting a small taste is missing the point. The players at the big programs, and a lot of the smaller ones too, were getting paid. But at least now it is above the table and a market can operate in the open. The problem is that there's no structure, it's the Wild West, and now it's the worst of all worlds.

And that set of conditions has occurred because the handful of BSDs want it to remain this way.

That's kind of the point..."NIL" is a pseudonym that is used because it sounds nicer and cleaner than saying:

"Payoff to an 18 year-old that has no clear return on investment. It's likely to totally be money down the drain and the player will be free to transfer in 4 months"

The truth about NIL is this: very few college athletes have any meaningful NIL value. Less than 10%, probably more like 2% on a National stage.

And that's where "NIL" has been utilized by the P2 to grab power. They can afford to pay a 3☆ LB $30k to play for them. Most others can't, but now every 3☆ LB and their "NIL agents" think they have they are worth $30k so they bounce into and out of the Portal, not getting a step closer to the NFL dream that isn't ever coming nor getting any meaningful education. Some just end up "disappearing" into the Portal. They don't stay at places like VT, Wake Forest, Purdue, ect. because they are being sold a bunch of bullshit.

I would have taken that Oline coach with him had we not hited Moore. He actually just got fired from Cal as OC so ACC expierence!

Also ACC swimming and diving championships started today and run through Saturday iirc

My bold prediction for the offense this year under Montgomery - I think Kyron Drones is going to have a monster year and develop tremendously into a higher volume and more efficient passer with Montgomery's coaching. Drones hasn't gotten great QB coaching since he's been at Tech and Bowen's extremely slow developing passing scheme did him no favors. A switch to a simpler, quick release and higher volume pass game where Drones can get his confidence back and play without having to think too much I think will do him wonders. I'm excited to see how we integrate some of these air raid/veer and shoot pass concepts with Drones' game.

I think with college coaching it's even harder. You could argue that Montgomery and Siefkes don't have the resume. Its been a decade since Montgomery was an OC except for the year at auburn which well it's Auburn. Siefkes hasn't called defenses for 4 years and never at the P4 level.

But then if you look at the coaches skills, does being an HC help montgomery? Maybe but has his offensive knowledge decayed. does being a wunderkid for Siefkes help? Maybe, Loeffler couldn't translate his knowledge to people so it was wasted.

You could do this with 90% of coaching hires too. it's such a crap shoot.
