I'm a Nuggets fan and watched him win a ring in Denver. Early he was deeply beloved by both fans and the team. Management (Booth) wanted to bring in younger guys to develop alongside Jok and Murray, but Malone didn't want to play them, so it didn't work. It felt like the older more serious guys were bought in, but he didn't do well with the youth movement. The way he fucked around and arguably wasted some of Christian Braun and Peyton Watson's early years would give me some concern if I didn't hate UNC like I do.

No after the announcement there have been a number of reports of Mox being extremely abusive both physically and verbally. To the point that UVA sent observers to practices that recorded a number of incidents. Sounds like her being fired was the right move. Actually sounds like it could have been for cause. The new hire seems like a homerun too so likely they will be better off for it pretty quickly.

There is actually a long list of guys that have been successful after leaving here. Some of it by taking a step down but quite a few that were at P4 or Tournament teams. Some Young had no chance of keeping but there are still several he did. NIL now though throws any transfer in question.

N'Guessan, Nickel, Kidd, Pedulla, Collins, Rice, Maddox, Buchanan, Camden, Rechsteiner. All averaged double digit scoring after leaving Tech. Rodney Brown too this season. Probably missing a few more.

Darius Maddox went to George Mason and put up 14 and 13.8 ppg in two seasons.

David N'Guessan went to Kansas State and doubled his production first year compared to time with Hokies. Averaged 13.3 ppg his last season.

Tyler Nickel averaged double digits both seasons at Vanderbilt including 13.5 ppg this season.

Sean Pedulla put up 15.4 ppg at Ole Miss.

Brandon Rechsteiner put up 12 ppg at Colorado State, a 5 ppg improvement.

Darren Buchanan went to GW and put up double digits for two years and was in the conversation for A10 Defensive Player of the Year. Transferred to Rutgers to be 6th man. Put up 8.1 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.7 apg in about 24 minutes.

John Camden put up 13.9 at Cal this year after putting up double digits at Delaware the year before.

Rodney Rice was over 20 per game at USC before getting hurt this season.

M.J. Collins put up 17.5 at Utah State this season.

Rodney Brown went to Loyola Marymount this year and put up 14 ppg.

I am genuinely hoping that UNC firing Davis is like Tenn firing Fulmer - I hope they're about to go on a long downward spiral to mediocrity blazing through half a dozen (or more) failed coaches and failing to make the tourney more often than not. But as a Tech fan (who despises UNC) living in Tarhole country, that's probably a pipe-dream

I know he's more than likely not the best coach in terms of x's & o's and player development, but until we chose to invest in basketball it is difficult for me to criticize him too much. If he consistently loses to teams that invest less than us in basketball, that is a valid criticism. If he consistently loses to teams that have larger and better funded staffs, and pay more for better players, I fail to see how criticism can be placed fairly.

At a minimum, he seems to be a good man of good moral character that is a great culture fit for our program. If we want to be better than that, we need to make the conscious decision to invest in that improvement. It will come as no accident or magic combination of us being the good guys and deserving more.

Probably depends on where they finish overall. I bet if they are close to .500 Szefc stays unfortunately especially if we dont have money for basketball. Baseball is further down the cash totem pole.

To be clear, I think Franklin stays here for 2-3 years. I think it's unlikely he leaves next year, but it's absolutely possible. Two years ago, we saw Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and Oregon all get their coaches poached. If y'all think we are ever safe, your just wrong IMO.

at the end of the day, we can make all of that meaningless if we just give him what he wants and get out of the way.

I agree, but can we give him everything he wants? One of his biggest complaints about Penn State was the nearby airport runway was too small for the team to fly out of. What's he going to say when he realizes that the team has to drive to Roanoke to pick up a charter to their game? Are we going to renovate the airport for him? Sure would be nice, but that's way more complex than kicking other coaches out of Merryman.

those kind of schools would probably have their sights set higher than on a Franklin

They're going to want someone who can have them win now. Franklin is a program builder, so that isn't a good fit.

Franklin's image was rehabilitated after a few gameday appearances and a Nick Saban Endorsement. 8/9 wins this year and he's getting offers.

I'm legit curious who you're talking about. Joe Bamisile? Nolley? I looked at guys who have transferred out, there are only a few who have started at least 20 games at their new homes and averaged double digits: Bamisile, Nolley, Nickel, Kidd and Pedulla. Of those, really only the first two didn't work here. They were both good at their next stop, although Bamisile fell off his Jr and Sr years at OU and VCU. The others were good here and then left for money. Not sure I buy the narrative.

I mean this staff can't stay after this season right?

I think for the most part the really good players from the 90s would still be really good today, they would play a different game but John Stockton would tear up the current floor spacing, Gary Payton could play defense in today's league, Jordan would average 40 if no one could touch him. Jokic would fit right into the 90s play LeBron could play in any era. The S tier and A teir players are fine. Heck Sabonis is playing the way his dad would have played had he been in the NBA earlier.

I think the B-tier and below would have issues both ways. The pistons game plan for Jordan was to hit him until he didnt want to be hit any more. Draymon probably looks at those games and thinks "too far". Those lumbering centers from the 80s/90s wouldn't last a week today. Shaq couldn't play his way into shape (he would still be really good because he was one of the best passing big mans of the time and had the skills to fit right in, but his game would look different now). The 3&D guys are so hard to project, Bruce Bowen couldn't just sit in the corner on offense like he did so his defense would suffer.

Magic's shooting wasnt better because it didnt have to be. He didnt need to work on it because it wasnt a weakness in his game like it would be now, but he and most of the other all nba players would adapt to today's game. Hakeem would flourish, Miller would shoot more 3, same with Allen. AI would jave an even better handle because he'd hate that Kyrie was better than him.

if a song makes you wanna jump up and down, it's a good song. if a song makes you and 60 thousand of your friends and family create small earthquakes whilst jumping, it's a fucking great song.

the math on this one is fairly simple.

1972 maverick; earth tone olive color; 3 on the tree that my dad converted to floor shift. Drove it for almost ten years! (also blew tire at 70 mph coming down Christiansburg mountain on 81. Changed it with cars passing 7-10 feet behind my back at 70-80 mph!)
