The further these players get from actually being students, the less this univeristy/sport connection makes sense.

Within 10 years, I could see there being no NCAA and conference commissioners allowing non students to play for their teams. I'm talking totally removing the pretense of enrolled college students on these teams. When that happens, the sport is dead. Just like the G league would be if the NBA wasn't willing to lose millions on it.

As the parent of two sons with Bachelor's degrees in Cinematic Arts and History, Master's degrees in Divinity and History, and two daughters pursuing degrees in Social Work and Psychology, I can still find the humor in that comment. Lighten up folks, it's a good joke. Underwater Basket Weaving may not be a degree anywhere, but the proliferation of frivolous degrees in American collegiate studies is well documented and worthy of some good-natured ribbing. All you engineers and hard science folks, take your best shots!

Folks, I've got a rather unique situation that I wanted to get out in front of for season tickets this year.

We have seats that we really like in the South End Zone. First row of the 2nd deck, section, 505. Plenty of leg room, great view of the entire field to watch plays develop, straight on with the jumbotron, etc.

The problem for us is that my parents have retired to SC and making the 6-hour drive every week for a 6-6 team has become too much for them. My wife and I have a little Hokie on the way ourselves, so I'm not sure how many times we'll be able to make trek up from Charlotte.

I understand from the athletic department that we are able to transfer our entire season ticket package for this year if anyone would be interested. You would get some seats that may be tough to get priority wise. We don't donate a ton, but we've been going to games for 30 years, so it adds up and has placed us in a nice spot which we'd hate to lose.

I'll provide an email address if there is any interest. Of course, also open to suggestions from folks who have been in a similar situation.

bar1990 is talking about relationships between different schools, and how that will affect conference affiliation and game ratings (eyeballs), which is what will drive revenue going forward.

You're talking about relationships between fans and their local school. Big difference.

People are going to watch their local school, in general, but of games not involving their school, the big marquee matchups are the ones driving the eyeballs. That's what bar1990 is referring to.
