knee replacement I will undergo next week
Good luck on this. My brother has had both done and he is back to surfing. Stay the course on the rehab after the initial recovery. Tough path, but he says the results are solid.
At the same time I don't think you have an appreciation for just how absurdly rich some of these assholes with fuck you money are. A school with a $1b+ athletic endowment can light $50m on fire every year and still walk away making a significant profit in their overall investments.
Maybe regional cable TV markets are going to be completely killed by streaming. But I'm not totally convinced of that. Streaming services have limitations - and they continue to jack up their rates which will eventually drive people to search for cheaper options. Whether or not those cheaper options will be regional cable TV providers, no one knows.

Well, it's been a minute since this thread was active. Unusual for the fishing crowd, but something's changed. I'll not bother to start a new thread, and if this one disappears as quickly as the last one, I'll not try again.
Main topic I have been hearing about is the cold stunned speckled trout and redfish here in VA and NC. Bad enough for NC to prohibit the taking of trout and bad enough for VMRC to be out enforcing the rules on taking trout here in the Chesapeake. Commercial netters are allowed 50 lbs of trout a day, with recreational anglers allowed 5 per day but only one over 24". People scooping them up in nets as they struggle to survive have been under scrutiny, but who knows how many do whatever out there. While some would recover, it is true that most will die, becoming food for birds in a sad, but natural occurrance. The fisheries folk say that while the population will definitely be affected for next year, there will be enough trout to restore the population soon enough, but those of us who chase them here will feel the hit for sure.
Walleye in the Shenandoah? Yep. Also got a picture from a buddy who lives on Claytor Lake. He is standing in the middle of the lake, frozen from shore to shore. Yep, it's been a cold one so far. The upper New has given up some seriously large fish this winter, including a 15 lb 6oz walleye and some really big muskies. Some guys have been chasing muskies in the New river using rainbow trout for bait. Catching numbers of muskies on the live bait in the Whitethorn area below the arsenal. Not a fan of the pursuit, but the numbers of muskies in the New have invited the action, once a little used approach using large suckers, but the rainbows are apparently hard for a musky to ignore.
I have "winterized'' my boat as much as usual, and am hoping for a warm spring as I recover from the knee replacement I will undergo next week. Wheeeeeeee!

LOL - the juxtaposition here is something. not word for word, but essentially exactly right.

We will soon find out the difference between Connor Stallions- a working class guy that doesn't pay millions in NIL but would literally ruin his reputation for Michigan to beat Northwestern vs. A uber rich booster who has more important things in his life than Michigan beating Iowa. It's the later that are propping up these collectives right now. How "hard corps" are they will soon come to light.
They wouldn't. Or at least they wouldn't for long. Once everyone realizes they can't just buy a team and it becomes a bidding war for the same outcome they had previously, I think the money - at least the ridiculous amounts, will largely dry up. People with fuck you money don't stay that way by paying high school kids to join a team. A one off for a natty - maybe for pride. But the more we go along the more the market will show the true return, and I think things will normalize a bit. At least I hope.
Well, at least he understands what's happening.

Makes me a little sad to hear all this talk about our receivers getting separation against top talent when we could not get them the ball when we needed a third down conversion.

100% of my sarcasm, cynicism, etc aside- all of that aside... Why? Why? Why would a huge Iowa Wrestling fan- even if he wipes his ass with 100 dollar bills - Why would you throw away 5 fucking million dollars in exchange for not beating Penn State or OSU in the Natty? I am being serious- what Iowa fan/alum - would throw away a generation worth of wealth to hope to win the B1G in fucking wrestling? Someone- anyone- please explain. Iowa wrestling does not make one fucking dime profit. Why on earth- outside of money laundering- would anyone- even the filthy rich- do this?
