Are they basing branding on Football or Basketball, both? Or perceived value? Otherwise, You know the ACC thinks UNC and Duke are the most valuable assets.

Haven't seen anything about a Russian team, but the top coaches in the DC area are (were) Russian nationals. I think that's who they meant.

Yup. negative feedback loop. I have no idea how they're going to quantify "brand", but it takes multiple years to build a brand. And the nature of this new financial arrangement makes it MORE difficult for "brandiess" schools to put together the kind of consecutive seasons needed to build brand.

They've put in place a system the virtually guarantees that anyone not in the "Brand 4" will never catch up. Which, taken to its logical conclusion, means the ACC will forever be a second-rate conference, which does the "Brand 4" no favors.

Can you provide a link to you hiking / backpacking group?

The thing that really sucks with the whole "perception of brand" these days is that our viewership ratings are influenced by being on channels people don't get. Other programs (fsu and clemson cough cough) get eyeballs for losing on ABC in a circular logic spiral.

The plane from Wichita was using the shorter runway which runs more east-west rather than the main runway which in almost due north-south. Someone should have known, but perhaps the helicopter didn't even know they were even close; they were on a training mission.

This sounds interesting, so I added it to my "Overpriced Ebook List" on Amazon, which I look at occasionally to see which ebooks I want to read have dropped below $10. Apparently I added this to the list already in September 2023. Price hasn't come down yet. =^/

I think branding wise we'd rank better than performance wise right now? In the ACC its pretty much Miami and FSU from a national branding perspective. Everyone else should be relatively in reach of VT.

From the sounds of his post it was his decision, but who really knows outside of the program

If he can just figure out that other very important aspect of the job, we'll be all set

At least in Lot 18, it might be possible to do that or a weekday game

Side note-Also very proud of last season's UVA-VT tailgate. Friday I went to Christmastown at Busch Gardens rom 12-9pm; then dancing and drinking at club in Richmond til 2am; then picked up by my friend at the bar at 2am and arrived at Lot 18 at 530am(temp of 22 wind-chill of 13) and tailgated from 545am til 615pm and then the game. Not bad for an almost 60 year old and one of three football weekends where was up from Friday morning til Sunday morning!

His choice or no?

If it weren't for (1) my company saying I need to be on there (2) the hiking and backpacking group that I founded and manage and (3) the Virginia Tech Philadelphia alumni group that someone asked me to manage, I would have left a long time ago. There are truly some of the stupidest/sickest/most in need of mental help people on the planet regularly posting there. I'm not on Facebook, so cannot compare to them.

It appears that the helicopter pilot misjudged his attempt to fly behind the plane, similar to a jetskier being hit by a boat because they were trying to time a jump over their wake. Though I have no idea why a helicopter would want to pass so closely behind a jet plane. Anybody who watched Top Gun knows what happens when you do that.

Yeah for a second I got excited that something else bad happened to that man. Didn't even know we had a VT Alex Jones

Took about 1 hour for that to devolve into a political shit show.

that's wild to me. Also, not surprising. Tensions are high, particularly right around elections and administration changes so of course people are going to take every opportunity (even sick ones) to try and make a point or case that "their team" is better than "the other team"

People are people and it's tragic to have a loss of life event such as this, no matter who those people are or where they come from. Politics aren't and shouldn't be part of it. Accidents happen. To everyone. This isn't the fault of Red or Blue. If you say otherwise, get over yourself and go outside to get some fresh air.

Seems unwise to be performing a proficiency exam in the landing pattern of a major commercial airport

supposedly "professional" LinkedIn site is

I have no idea what the tipping point was for that maybe it was COVID but somewhere around there that site comment section has gotten more intolerable than Facebook.
