"Targeting" isn't the same as a done deal. But a combination of the length of time this has taken and the smoke around this dude + Bateman indicates to me that it the search has not gone to plan and we are pretty far down our list of candidates.

GM Monti Ossenfort signed Wilson to a three-year deal in free agency after a successful yet limited stint in New England, one of the few impact signings of the Cardinals' 2024 off-season.
But Wilson immediately became a versatile anchor in the middle of the field, from his off-ball linebacker position. Over 16 games, he picked up 75 total tackles, four TFLs and seven quarterback hits, three of which were sacks.
Considering Arizona's thin defensive front, defensive coordinator Nick Rallis had to get creative, and the linebacker was a big part of that. Wilson was a force in the middle of the field, but brought the pressure when called upon.
But PFF grades don't tell the full story. Arizona's run defense improved drastically in 2024 despite the lack of a top defensive front. The Cardinals improved from last in the NFL in rushing yards allowed to 20th, with a nearly 20-yard-per-game improvement.
That is a testament to Wilson's teammates like OLB Zaven Collins, LB Kyzir White and even S Budda Baker, as well as Rallis' scheme. But Wilson's presence certainly helped nail down the improvement.
This is almost...almost...the same thing as hiring Belichek, right? RIGHT?! 😭😭😭
It is the tried and true Wofford to VT coaching pipeline.....it has worked so well for men's basketball.
I very much wish we had some beat reporters that had a set of nuts and asked Pry at the presser, why did this turn into such a cluster. Some sort of explanation is needed.

I think you have a good point, though. I wonder if Pry had a short call with him because an agent asked for a favor or something and then this got linked. I guess we'll see though! This seems so out of left field that I have a hard time making any sense of it.
Is there some existing connection between Pry and Siefkes? Like how is he even on our radar? I didn't really follow the Cardinals this year, but I also didn't hear anything about their defense/linebackers at any point this season.

Edit: Does it matter who? I mean, even if we went as far down the line as to promote Adibi, I would at least have some semblance of excitement that a Hokie was getting a big opportunity.

All the folks on Reddit were stoked that we were potentially taking Bateman off their hands, so I'm willing to give Siefkes the benefit of the doubt. NFL experience and was pretty solid at Wofford.
