I can't wait to hear the "coach speak" that Pry uses when talking about this hire and tells us that he has been our guy all along.
I agree with these comments:
Either he'll be good and save BP's job or he won't be and we'll have a clean slate in 2026. Just gotta wait and see.
I don't hate this hire. Everyone has to start somewhere- if this guy succeeds, no one will care what his resume says.
He probably wasn't our first choice, and that happens. We'll see what he can do. If he fails, Pry fails, and Whit fails. We'll have a whole new AD to try and restart and pull us back to relevance (but here's hoping Pry can do that!)
๐คฃ the AIA is not all poweful. I definitely didn't know that, but mostly because I have never concerned myself with the AIA. So look, firms may not advertise and offer unpaid internships as a job but you can walk into any firm and offer to learn for free. I arranged for a family friend's daughter to join a top 10 firm in Chicago for a summer in 2018. That's well within the last 10 years.
Could have made the same hire six weeks ago.
It's clear Pry took a big swing to try to get Knowles (right move) but failed. Then Dex wants to stay at PSU to be Franklin's personal cuck. This was an off-the-radar hire that no one expected.
Well that's because no one has heard of him
46. 46 days
Evidently it has quickly progressed from "targets" to "expected to hire"
BREAKING: Virginia Tech expected to hire Arizona Cardinals LB coach Sam Siefkes as its new defensive coordinator, per @mzenitz pic.twitter.com/RBwwGAJQtzโ Kolby Crawford (@kolby_crawford) January 27, 2025
Sure he does, cost.
This is where I'm at as well.
I think the transition from FCS coordinator to G5 coordinator to P4 coordinator is relatively small (compared to being a head coach).
I'm not saying this is a good hire, but I can talk myself into it.
This is so funny because over the last "how many ever days it's been since we fired Marve", sooo many names have been put out and this one was never mentioned.
The only one who was decent at his job.
So you are saying we don't need a DC that focuses on LB's?
I'm not sure whom you guys would have been happy with.
To be fair, the guy you pick to save your job may be different than the guy you pick to appease the fanbase.
If Pry really believes this guy knows what he's doing, and this guy wins, then none of this matters.
Small chance but Ryan Smith (yes, that Ryan Smith from the Fuente era) could be coming along as a Co-DC/Safeties coach.
Smith currently in his second year as CB coach for the Cardinals.
We can only hope Thamel understands "targeting" as well as most officiating crews
Yah...Damb. Guess I gotta start marching out the rebuild years again ๐ญ
Honestly I don't even care at this point. If we hire him and he sucks, then everyone will get canned and we can start Rebuild 2.0, and if he turns out to be Foster-level legendary then we'll get big-dogged and he'll be gone in 3-4 years anyways.
Can't find many boxes that he checks in terms of an appreciable resume to save a head coaches job...
Yeah no one is debating that.
The gap between Knowles and this guy would have to be measured in light years.
Pressure is gonna be on from day 1 with a hire like that, no grace period
Didn't really expect to get a Knowles or A+ hire when your head coach might get canned after this season. Experience is experience, Wofford or not.

LMAO What? We tried to get Knowles? First I've heard.
Dex probably doesn't want to uproot his life/career to work for a lame duck coach.
