whatever they did, it worked. Pop had zero time in the pocket and I dont know how much that would have changed with a better OL. In real-time, Schlee fared much better, but outside of the one big play he didn't fare much better. After watching some of the highlights it was just clear that we were way undersized and inexperienced.

Brian Kelly is scum and what is wrong with college sports. He really is. He's a bully, takes no accountability- he pulls his QB when he throws an incompletion, he fires coaches every year, etc. It's never his fault. He also used to cuss out everyone on the ND sideline every play until the school ordered him to tone it down. But he wasn't wrong to leave for LSU, he's not dumb. He knows Tiger football is more important to people down there than literally anything else- health, their children, their retirement savings. He was 100% right to leave ND- where there is still some semblence of academics, pretending to be an institution of higher learning. Any smart coach would have made that move in the NIL era. If Kelly needs a new QB, LSU boosters will buy him one every day and twice on Sunday.

Also -we learned in the first half the refs weren't going to call PI, so that little tidbit helped in the second half as well. But your point about personnel and adjustments is very valid.

I would also argue that I don't think our game plan was necessarily bad, it would just have been very helpful if our guys could tackle. There were a lot of plays where our players hit their running back early, they just didn't bring him down until he got 6-8 yards out of it.

Mind you, given how bad our D was, it seemed like we were in position more to make plays, so it seemed like that was what the coaches worked on (since during the regular season, a lot of our guys, especially LBs weren't even in position to make them), and if we'd had time to work on tackling, we probably would have done a lot better. Also, S&C to add weight and strength would help with tackling also.

They also beat Illinois which after watching the Illini take it to SCAR seems like a really big win for Minnesota.

The Minnesota defense was quietly very impressive all season long. They held 8 opponents under 20, and only gave up 30 once, hilariously, to IOWA of all teams.

I watched a few of their games, and I thought they played very tight and in control for a 7-5 team. They really played Penn State exceptionally well. Penn State won that game because they pulled off a fake punt a critical moment in the 4th quarter.

I'll just say that while I cannot stand Notre Dame, I do love the fact that Brian Kelly left there because he thought he'd be able to win a title with LSU. And instead, his replacement has ND in the semi-finals, and Brian Kelly and his LSU Tigers unranked and out of playoff consideration.

Guess my disdain for Kelly is deeper than that for ND

Honestly I don't think we are closer or farther away from a championship than we were 10 years ago. In the past 20 years Oregon has gained some prominence but still got blown out by a blue blood. UF was the last first time champion in 1996. Since then it's been the big names. Even look at the final four this year, blue bloods.

But also Indiana had 11 wins, boise was a top 4 seed, every team has lost and if PSU wins oit then Oregon gets a national title via the college matrix. There were a lot of great things this year and use being 6-7 really put a damper on one of the best years of football in a decade.

What i hate is not knowing who will be on the team next year. The transfers are out of hand, i saw two guys swap teams the other day. The off-season is terrible. The season was pretty fantastic for all teams not VT.

I will disagree on one point. Minnesota has a very sophisticated pro-style offense with a lot of unique looks, and ended up using a lot of new wrinkles that I didn't see in the film. Fortunately, Minnesota only had one real plus athlete (Taylor) and one other skill guy with some ability (Spencer.)

Minnesota won the game because their defensive scheme was outstanding. Whatever they were doing to get Watson or Nitta to set the protections away from the blitz over and over, it was as good a defensive play calling performance that I have seen since the 0-0 miracle that Mike Elko pulled on Frank Beamer.

With Marve gone or not- a P4 college staff had a month to gameplan for a pedestrian, basic Minny offense- missing some players of their own, and they totally bungled the prep. Very concerning that the kids on defense aren't being coached and prepared better than this. Like all season, whenever Minny actually needed a first down, they got one.

And Bellichick will soon learn that he can develop a middle linebacker, pay him 7 figure NIL, and he will never be able to match a portal offer from LSU. UNC football fans still have other priorities in life vs. LSU fans who breathe for Tiger football. Bellichick will find this out very soon. All of his best players will leave for more bag in the SEC.
