Franklin is a great recruiter, a good executive coach, a great players coach ( they love him), and the worst 4th quarter coach. I think he was a great get for VT and like I thought I 2015, hiring Furnte was a great choice. But as I said after we fired Pry, I won't believe Saban would win here until he does. Franklin had all the right things he needs to win, seldom faces a top 19 teams, he can out recruit 80% of the league. He will get fan support. But he still has to overcome the administration and their fund raising ineptitude. Luckily he is so charismatic he can start glad handling donors and opening their wallets himself
Abromavage with 2-run HR in top of 1st to put HOKIES in front.
Third game of series. Going for the sweep. Game on ACCNX.
hell, it should be there already
He's gone. The skills are there, his confidence is lacking. He needs to rebuild in a different environment.
And Bud was the one to make the text when JMFF was fired from Penn State. If this hire is a success (relevance, winning championships, etc.), we need to get that Bud statue next to Beamer. IMO.
Bud wants to be a bit more involved imo. He's looking for retirement hobbies. He watching tape, doing podcasts, etc.
It's easy to lead people who are already bought in. It's hard to change minds. It's hard to land the right people amidst competition.
This may be more Beamer's choice than anything. The last couple of times I've seen him on video he was looking a little frail. To be fair, he is pushing 80.
I got my $2 worth of day dreams.
I was so happy to see her exit the dance already. I am not sure I despise another coach more.
Random thought, does he end up back here next year? Was this his idea or was he shown the door? If he was shown the door, no chance. If it was his idea because we told him NIL was going to be half of the initial, and he decides to test the waters and finds the water cold?
Matt Brown (owner of Extra Points - one of the foremost experts in the college sports business) shared his take on Sands' piece:
Dr. Sands is a smart guy. He has a PhD in engineering, holds multiple patents, and is an established expert in nanotechnology. And here he is, admitting that he and his intellectually distinguished colleagues can't properly measure the actual benefits that come from college athletics spending, and that they are in fact tied to budget increases for emotional, rather than practical, reasons...
...After all, just last September, Virginia Tech approved a plan to add $229M to the athletic budget.
Maybe, with the right spreadsheets, we can figure out if that $229M will actually matter when it comes to wins, losses, ticket sales, and Directors Cup rankings. But "why you approved $229M when you don't know the answer to any of those questions" is an emotional question that is beyond my area of expertise.
The TLDR of the piece is "you're right and it's still you're job to fix this"
He won 10 or 11 games consistently for a decade in a division with national title caliber Ohio State and Michigan teams, he had the first back to back 9 win seasons in Vanderbilt history. Barring something catastrophic he's going to be successful here.
Brewer had balls of solid polished brass
and our defense was really aggressive.
Watching the series against Oho ST.
I enjoy the gutsy.
Won't happen. Not until 2027
Ok so tell me if I'm wrong
CJF is actively including Bud
But not going out his way to have Beams speak on it
Don't kill me but I'm ok with this... if true....
We'll see what team he fields in O&M.
But what a great series of videos. So good.
I am actively fighting the koolaide effect but at every showing I see a personality and type A that looks leader.
I have some to the conclusion that he is a leader and confident. The question remains whether he will lead is in sufficient ways to win more.
The recruiting and team building parts so far seem to be on a spectrum some where between an improvement to good.
He's either energized or otherwise created a better marketing environment in the off-season.
Pretending to be on the hype train so far but cautiously optimistic. Especially with the travel schedule this season.
I think it's possible he's the real deal.
I remember being excited he signed with the ravens and then he tore his acl in his first game. Of course it was on that damn metlife turf

2019? The year that uva won a natty in basketball and also beat us in football for the first time since 2003? Yeah we should have known that was a sign of the end times
I may be drinking the kool-aid but I think Franklin is the real deal.
Win game 2 over Stanford 10-2

Basketball is the easiest to get back, you need so few players to really make it work. You can always come in with a decent pocket books and get back. What are you worried about VT never getting back to .500 in the ACC? We were ranked playing a ranked duke and not on national TV we shouldn't be worried about basketball revenue, we ain't anywhere we can't get back too.
