That is really the only argument the SEC has- that the very top of its league has been better than others the past 25 years. The whole conference? nah- not close.
I mean, since the BCS started in 1998, the SEC has a winning record against every power conference (except the against the now defunct big east, funny enough), and has the best overall winning percentage against power conferences of any conference by a wide margin (source).
Don't worry I have no illusions of our talent levels.
The past 25 years, you could intelligently argue- backed by facts, that the very top- very top of the SEC is better than other conferences consistently. You could argue that. Florida with Meyer, Bama with Saban, UGA- ironically were labeled underachievers under Richt, LSU. Stop right there. Compare that era with the top of the B1G- OSU, Penn State, Michigan, wisky or FSU/Clemson etc. That is really the only argument the SEC has- that the very top of its league has been better than others the past 25 years. The whole conference? nah- not close.
Of course it'll get reported both ways. If the SEC team losses it was because the bowl didn't matter and if they win it's because there's such a competitive team culture in the SEC (unlike those other conferences) that every game is important no matter what. I think there are enough examples of both mindsets playing out year-to-year on different teams and individuals in various situations that it's hard to make a clear generalization that "the SEC" does one or the other.
Define worst? you mean points margin? or choking like fucking weak dogs against BC and Clemson with tourney bids on the line?

And???? Doesn't change that he "signed" or "committed" or whatever else you want to call it just to be enrolled for paperwork purposes before transferring immediately to Wisconsin.
So what does it mean that Seldon is "signed"?????
SEC teams don't get up for bowls that aren't the natty. Its how WVU killed UGA and Utah killed Bama, etc. SEC teams need the bowl to be super important to get up for it.
Alabama is really showing their CFP worthiness right now.

You're correct, I jumbled a few of your comments from other threads into context of you being disappointed with signing players from a lower level. Apologies for the assumption that that was your overall message.
This cycle, we have 1 P4 portal add- an injured backup from Clemson. We have a D3 take, FCS takes. Its a big fucking problem, IMO. Big.

So we're adjusting now to just being upset that we've signed more non-P4 players than P4 players. Noted, just trying to get out Infront of this before you make the same comment on the next 20 recruiting threads.
Chaplin had a pretty poor year and showed regression from the year before. But, he was also dealing with injuries all year. But it's pretty clear there was only modest improvement from each of the lineman from the 2023 to 2024. And for whatever reason, the entire line regressed the final 4 games of the year (sans UVA).
The SEC typically doesn't play out of conference home–and–home games against P4/5 non-rivals. But they typically do well in neutral site kickoffs, bowl games, and rivalry games.
I understand why people are critical of how the media puts the SEC on a pedestal, but I think it's possible to hold that opinion, and simultaneously recognized that the SEC has been the most consistent and overall best conference over the last two decades.
