Wonder if Dae-Quan Wright has been in their ear about the Grove.
So cool. One time in the War Memorial Gym, one afternoon during summer school, I ended up in a pick-up game with Reggie Steppe and a few athletic types. I was on Reggie's team and my brush with greatness was my cut underneath the basket while Reggie had the ball (honestly just trying to get out of the way), when the next thing I knew, the ball just "appeared" in my hands while I was under the basket, enabling a quick & easy layup. It seemed like some sort of voodoo to me, and was totally impressive how he threaded a needle I didn't even see.
Seeing smoke on Phillips and Delane both to Ole Miss.
UVA with a portal QB battle this spring. Got commitments from Danny Kaelin, a redshirt QB from Nebraska and now Chandler Morris, senior from North Texas.
Curious to see if Kaelin decommits/enters portal again based on this latest change.
This might now be my favorite thing that I've ever seen...
Idk with all that QB experience I bet Vick is already a better timeout caller than Pry will ever be π
Lol! True, it didn't, but I can't recall being happier about being wrong!
I don't know how long belichick will be at unc, he might already have his foot out the door. But you can guarantee one thing, he will take the opposing team's best offensive player, and he will make sure that he doesn't beat unc. He made a living out of this in the NFL.

Belicheck's thought process as he applys for UNC's HC vacancy and gives them his "plan" in the current state of college football.
I've been curious the whole time what the mechanism of this is supposed to be. It might be a more NFL-style operation, which might work better in the NIL era (split of coaching/roster management, etc.) but they're still competing in the same place against the same other schools for recruits. There'll be a first year or two bump in recruits probably, but the key questions remain the same. Can they 1. Identify talent, and 2. Recruit that talent and 3. Develop the talent.
To the first point, I'm not sure BB's record is actually that stellar. Tom Brady covered up a lot of sins in that department. Look at some of their later drafts, they're pretty weird. Maybe he hires the right folks to handle that, but I'm not convinced at first pass that there's a huge advantage there.
Second, recruiting, sure, the name will pull folks in years one and two. This is just Mack Brown 2.0 in that way. Big name, lots of buzz, some big time croots come a calling. Maintaining those relationships, holding those dudes over time, bringing in a second generation of guys might take more hand holding than he wants to do, both with players and families.
The third one is going to be what he sells aggressively. I know what skills you need in the NFL, I'll get you from where you are to where you want to be, etc. Which maybe he does. But this is not unique to Belichick, there are former NFL dudes all over CFB, and it's the one that takes the longest. You've got to get the right folks in, and keep them, for this to bear any fruit. If he's committed to doing this for ten years, maybe we get to the point where the development works and that reinvigorates the other two, then you become a real powerhouse. I'm not convinced that any of that is a given though.
"Alright kid, here's what you do. You get the snap and then look downfield. If nobody is immediately open, you use your superhuman speed and agility to break through with a 40 yard gain. Got that? Good, now go get em!"
Spring camp is just having the QBs ride the Experience over and over again
Thankfully this way of thinking is being driven out of the job market. Employees change jobs for infinite numbers of reasons often out of their control.
I was just asking myself if it was worth posting this exact thing on a 2 day old sub-thread as I scrolled through it.
Brilliant. Let Vick learn the ropes for 3-5 years and he'll be in prime position to take over for Pry
I love it, good chance to get former Hokies into coaching and gain some experience. Even in our down turn, NSU would be a solid feeder school.
...an OL coach that can recruit, develop or coach OL...
Which one of those was he able to do, if any?
Phil Elmassian was that guy, and he worked out pretty well for us. But I don't think we have a Bud Foster waiting in the wings to take over after he leaves, so maybe not.
When I am hiring, frequent job shifts gets your application put on the bottom of the pile. I am looking for employees that want to stay and not constantly job hop.
Can anyone help me figure out who the early enrollees are so I can denote them in the spreadsheet? I read or heard that we have 11 in this class, but I have never been able to find a reliable way to figure who they are before the start of the Spring semester.
Seasoned != good
We have 2 currently (almost 6 and 3.5) and my wife has been all in on #3....Iooking to the future I see how another sibling would be really great, but in the short term I do not look forward to repeating the hell of the first year or so while also having 2 others this time!
I don't even really care who we hire for DC or OL, but please for the love of Frank don't let it be some lucky dude who has been at like 5 places in the past 7 years. It's pretty wild, but I'd strongly prefer a coach who knows how to coach. Not someone who has just had a lucky run of short-lived stays at places. I know that's not really how things are done nowadays as the hot commodities are always moving up quickly, but there sure is a lot of garbage that also gets moved up quickly as a result.
Way lower and the article noted that FCS transfers fair way worse, but I don't recall specific numbers.
