I don't think people are afraid of turnover; I think they're afraid that we can't afford someone unless they give us the hometown discount.
I also think part of it is that the fanbase doesn't know a whole lot of coaches outside of ones that played here.
Whatever the case, I expect the next DC to have a Pry and/or regional connection of some sort , but not an existing connection to VT.

Reading between the lines from the TSL podcast and other message board traffic, sounds like the situation with Crook just became untenable. Was not recruiting well at all, the players were not happy with him, and he may not have even been staying in Blacksburg full time. The lack of development and relationships within his room was starting to show, and I think Davis was increasingly being asked to go above and beyond to keep the ship afloat. Based on all I've heard, he absolutely needed to go ASAP.
Not sure about disastrous - our OLine was a disaster. And in the Presser, Pry mentioned things like ability to recruit and develop. If Crook wasn't doing those things well, it would be disastrous to keep him!
Thank you. Everyone is so afraid of coach turn over and wants a through and through hokie that will never leave. We need to hire the best candidate I don't care if they're from Alaska, never heard of VT, or are UVA alums, we're in a dire situation with no room for another questionably qualified candidate just because you can draw a line from them to VT.
CBS has had the rights since 1996 (through 2038). I doubt it was even an option for game day to be there.

I'm in. Now I just gotta remember to revisit the playoff games after the first round is complete. Those are the hardest to rank value on as well, not knowing the actual participants.

My one gripe about Bud's "adjustments"? Mattie Ice and Bud's prevent defense in that one particular game. He was rankled about it being called that, but that's what it was and we lost a heartbreaker in no time at the end of the game because of it. That's about it, though. He's hard to criticize and I wish we could come close some day to his level of defensive coaching.
