Agreed. But I also think that it was exacerbated by the firings not coming over the weekend. I know I expected coaches to be retained through signing day, but the additional few days had me worried.
Our third is nearly 5 months old. Life is pure chaos right now.

His defenses at ISU have been incredible. He's coaching up 3-stars. Would be a huge get IMO.

As French pointed out, we don't have the personnel and Pry doesn't have the time to undergo such a drastic schematic overhaul as that would entail. We have to find a base 4-3/4-2-5 guy that Pry can at least relate to philosophically.
That number is thrown off by the high end outliers and those that live in high earning areas.
Take out the DC suburbs, NYC, CA, etc.
Also, take out the number that comes from owning the business, the amount of that income that must go to the student loan payback which, if unmodified is over $25k/yr. and the sunk cost of loss of 10+ yrs of income. You'd be surprised at the amount of that "income" is really post-tax expense.
I am getting to the point that it's a very overrated number.
To be fair, I think a lot of the angst on here about Pry being unwilling to make changes was based on our experiences with previous coaches, not necessarily based on Pry's actual actions. I know some people wanted everyone fired after year one, but I think that's not how you get good coaches to come work for you.

Former DCs who became a head coach and then got fired are usually really good DCs when they become DC again.
It's possible, but there's a lot of chatter that Drones is going to need offseason surgery and may not be able to play or be full speed this spring. In which case Pop is going to get all the QB1 reps, and we have a QB competition in August for the starting job. At that point there are no more transfer windows until after next season. If Drones and Pop both play this spring and compete, its possible the guy who is behind could enter the portal. But for either one, you're transferring after the spring and have to learn a whole new system somewhere else in order to start that August.

This was a big thing for quite a while.
People get in much pain for dental work and it is all surgery. It is very uncomfortable as it's in the mouth. Lots of people are grossed out by people working in their mouth and it all feel like choking.
Some do not get numb in the mouth with local anesthesia.
There were many people demanding generals but general anesthesia is a real risk. Lots of things could go wrong and every practitioner is held to the standard of the specialist.
If we could just put Bud in charge of in-game adjustments it would be worth it.
This. Faheem says hey I will sign with you but you gotta grab my brother in the portal after this season and hook him up with NIL too or just give him a shot to play on that stage with me.
If I were Drones, I would play school.
He could certainly parley his time as VT QB1 into a career in the sport.

Did you see the study a few years back showing that plumbers make more than surgeons in a lifetime? I presume they were using net present value in the calculation (and if they weren't, then the gap would actually be even bigger in favor of the plumber).
Plumber can start earning at least okay money as an apprentice out of high school. Then things increase over time. Surgeon spends so much on college then medical school then has to do residency before earning big bucks. With the value of the money the plumber earned 5-10 years before worth more than current money and the ability to invest with compound interest for years while the surgeon is going into debt, the surgeon does not catch up even though they may earn way more at 45-65 than the plumber.

I'm not 100% sure on that. Andy Bitter today on the TSL podcast said VT would basically just pay them out the remaining value of their contract. The assistant deals are under more simplified letters of appointment that don't have all the offsetting buyout language like the HCs. I know if the coaches themselves left for another job they owed some very small amounts back to VT, but very minimal.

Poindexter is intriguing from a Virginia/recruiting relations aspect, but he's never called the defense before and has only been a co-DC. Not sure Pry can afford to screw this hire up again. He has to go with an experienced coordinator IMO.
Edit - Poindexter was actually the main DC at UCONN before PSU as co-DC with Pry. So he has called plays before. Is there enough experience there? Could be risky, but could be a very high reward candidate.
Ghannam was the opening day starter and got hurt. Why do you say he's "career backup"? I kinda get that you put Meadows as a backup, but career backup? You don't think he can improve? He's only in his 3rd year, plenty of OL don't click until their 4th or 5th year. What's the difference between him and Garrett? Garrett was a backup this year as well and probably has fewer snaps overall.
But wouldn't size differences always have been a thing for huge OL? What has changed now?
I think "home run hire" is the key here. It has to be a big name that gets recruits excited to come to VT if you want to do it in a hurry.
