I didn't say he didn't want to be a DC - I'm saying Pry had more faith in an unproven guy than he had in Quinn, otherwise he would have just given the job to Quinn. Quinn has been a DC at like 4 different schools, and if Pry didn't think he'd be GOOD (again, because he thought an unproven guy would be potentially better), that doesn't make me feel like Pry has confidence in him being DC for us.

If we hire someone with a different scheme, even if you could turnover large chunks of a roster, it's probably kind of late for it, unless he brings players with him, and then we'd want him to be from a P2 position preferably.
Do we know Quinn did not want to be DC?
I threw out that number of $40k just as a placeholder. That's about the starting salary of an apprentice depending on where you live and decade you live in. Journeyman rolls past 6 digits.
My brother is an electrician with about 30 yr experience and has his chop. Basically, he worked while getting his professional cert. A doc pays and gets no pay to get their chop.
He makes much more per year than my wife.
These are the things noone told me while I was growing up.
The top end of those with great specialties, like my uncle (specialized cardiothoracic surgeon), certainly gain much more. Below this threshold, other variables take over.
The surgeon in NYC will always make more than the plumber in Giles county.
It very much may be the opposite should the surgeon live in Giles and the plumber in Manhattan.
Put a different way, Pry thought an unproven up-and-comer would be better than Quinn as DC. To me that says something about a guy who has been a DC at multiple stops already. MAYBE he uses the bowl as an audition, but I just don't see it. Plus, we need someone that can recruit some serious talent. I don't think Quinn checks that box either.

What's really crazy, is the only qb we've had lately who isn't on this list is Hendon Hooker. He lost to Uva. Transferred out and then was in the heisman race until he got hurt. Wild.

I believe he only puts names on the list once they are done playing. Drones is on there, ostensibly, because he won't play vs uva again. Pop likely will.

Yep offense put up 27 points or more in 4 of the 6 losses. Clemson and Rutgers were the only exceptions.
im speaking purely physically. we dont have much of a sample size, but pop seems to be there mentally e.g. that really bad throw to the flats at duke didnt rattle him, i think kd1 is in a place right now where it would have shook him hard. but kd1 is a monster and just needs to work out the head games. hes playing like 2012 logan but he can be a 2011 logan on steroids.
as an aside: i was really impressed how pop didnt pout when he was suspended too. he kept his mouth shut and corrected his behavior.

The big problem with your calculus is that at $40k per year every single dollar is being spent on living expenses. That craftsman isn't saving a dime. By the time the doctor starts making money they make so much more than what they require simply for living that (if they are smart) they could invest a big chunk and catch up quick. So even if they start 10 years later and have way more debt (let's say they pay the debt down with a $500/mo payment over 30 years) they earn enough money to live a $40k lifestyle, pay down the debt and still have plenty to dump into long term investments.
Idk if I agree with the first part. Hiring Quinn to be a position coach and putting a young up and comer to coordinator tracks with what he did on the offensive side with Bowen, Glenn, and Rudolph.
