Agreed. It's pure cope. Sure Delane struggled at times this year, but we will be worse off without him.

He and Strong are the best corners the Hokies have had since Farley
Last year he played well above expectations and was a top corner.
This year he played far below expectations and was an average at best ACC corner. He got exposed a lot
I'm not necessarily calling for Whit's head. If UNC is tapping into main campus money or their endowment then that tells me that their university leadership as a whole is aligned on winning football games. I have always believed that is the most important factor of running a successful football program. If you have your AD, your university president, and your BOV pulling in 3 different directions (sound familiar) you have no chance of sustained success. The problem with Virginia Tech right now is that there is no shared vision for the university.
To your other point of Whit not being able to shake out money from our donors. I think there was a comment or article posted here recently of the new GT AD calling high net worth alumni and they responded with "I was waiting when someone would call me." Now I have no idea if that is the case with us or not but I just don't buy the claim that since we don't have a law school or medical school our alumni base is too poor to donate

Several hundred person brawl on the field- turned into a mud bog when some facilities genius decided to try and quell it by turning on the sprinklers. I'll never forget at the other endsa 40 yd line, a solo Blacksburg Sheriff stood with hand near his holster and no one came NEAR that end of the field....

I didn't say they were his only options, I just said that's probably where he'll end up. Also, there's an amount of hyperbole with those comments. But in all seriousness, I don't think he'll end up at osu.

Addressing the no HC experience point, remember all the conversations on this board about what we needed in a HC before and after Fuente got fired? The number one thing people were pointing to was high-level P5 experience. What we know from around the country is that prior HC experience is not a guarantee of success. Coaches who had no previous HC experience:

They are there, look at Tuten. Look at all the juco and fcs players that go into the portal and get offers from the P2/4. Once the get a chance to play and showcase their talents and there's film, then the offers come. There's plenty of diamonds in the rough however with all the talking heads and plethora of recruiting services out there, most people assume all the athletes have been evaluated and THAT'S just not the case. It's all a business and it all comes down to money. If you have money you're in, if you have talent and money you're golden. If you're talented and broke, it takes a shit ton of extra work and luck.
