I am gravitating to the NFL more and more because the playing field is level. There is a hard salary cap and salary floor and the richest teams cannot just buy players from whoever they want because of their spending power. Teams that are good get there by making good trades, signing the right players and building a successful franchise. Teams that are bad always have a legitimate path to pull themselves out of the muck.
We don't have that in college. If you fall behind, you're left for dead. The rich get richer and the poor get walked on. There is no viable path to success for the vast majority of schools out there. And in an era where EVERY SINGLE BROADCAST focuses on the playoff and who will win the title, being a fan of a school where you have no viable path to enter that conversation is just crushing. Its not enjoyable, its actively detracts from my enjoyment of following VT, and its actively pushing me away from participating anymore.
Anybody know whose list he was a 2nd-teamer on? The couple I checked didn't have him, which is nuts. Crazy how APR matched the 1st teamers in TFL and had like 4-5 more sacks than each of them (Penn State guy and South Carolina guy).

The good thing about this "hole" is its a couple miles of shoreline that include a few feeder creeks. While this time of year you're either on them or you're not the rest of the year the fish are spread out and it'd be hard to over fish it - its also relatively close to the inlet so it's getting refreshes of fish and bait every tide cycle. Its funny because I found the spot and my neighbor was fishing with his kids in a tournament and couldn't find the fish so I gave him the general area. He took me out to "his spot" the other week and it was just the opposite side of my spot so really he just opened my eyes to how large of an area the fish were working.
IDK if he'll be good in college. I have my doubts.
But my biggest takeaway is that he must be an even bigger asshole than people thought if there's not a single NFL coaching job he could get. Yes - some of the shine came off in his last few years without Brady, but the NFL will hire re-treads with next to zero chance of success just because they've been a coach (see Allen, Dennis), so the fact that he nobody will have him is pretty impressive

It varies school to school by the staff running it. Colorado list of 15 there are only four that look like a walk-on rating wise.
He still tells people to pack their shit but seems to be a bit more selective about it.
Pretty sure 247 lists walk-ons as well.
I feel like I can relate to this guy a lot. I'm a Vikings fan, I cheer (mostly) for the NFC North, and I'm not emotionally attached. But I enjoy the NFL product more than college because I expect turnover, there's no facade about what the sport is, there are rules in place to keep play competitive, and more so than college - I can get invested in a single player / franchise player. I can't do any of those things with college any more especially when a player may only ever play for a team for 4 games before they peace out. The only thing that I think college football does better than the NFL is accessibility - there are games on ALL the time and I can ALWAYS find my way to watching the game I want to watch. Once the NFL figures that part out at a price point that is more competitive with everyone other league, college football will become a complete afterthought for me.

Man, I sure wish we had that kind of fishery up here. It's so nice to have a honey hole, and with tidal and migratory factors, it's likely to remain one unless/until it gets changed by weather or someone with loose lips and a need to see pictures of themselves on the social sites finds it as well. The popping cork thing is funny. We used to do that when crappie fishing. We'd catch one and put a small hook with a few feet of line and a bobber in the crappie's back and follow it to the school. Once we went to retrieve the judas speck and as we got close, the bobber disappeared in a rush, came up a few yards away, and a big bass had eaten the little crappie, rolled, and then vanished. At least it waited until we were ready to leave. Never saw the bobber again.
I had a money honey hole myself once, and it still produces, but since I like fishing with friends, and since they have other friends, and so on, it ain't what it used to be 30 years ago. I no longer fish it having moved away, but I do get regular reports from one of the friends I took there often. It is clear that while it's still a bit of a honey hole, and you do have to know how to fish it, it's no longer a secret. Walleye, big cats and muskies were regulars, and truly big ones to boot, with all on 1/4 oz jigs tipped with large shiners. Biggest fish of my lifetime in fresh water of those species.

It is my understanding that just because they have entered the portal doesn't mean they are 100% leaving. They can withdraw, especially if they don't get those NIL offers they are hoping for. My understanding is Pry hasn't thrown them out.

CFB =/= NFL. Belichick has been an NFL coach his entire career, literally zero college coaching experience. I just don't see this translating as well as many other folks on this board. Plus he truly never succeeded as a HC without Tom Brady, possibly the greatest QB of all time.
