Ready for this -- I also drove from Nashville to Blacksburg to attend the 2005 Miami game. Also regrettable.
Everyone should be happy to hear I have no such plans in 2016.
This is the attitude we need, a chip on their shoulder, and the heart to prove themselves.
Keep it up!
GO HOKIES
For so long we've wanted Bud''s defense to be paired with a non-offensive offense. But now the defense has been complemented by why looks to be a good to great offense....that's gotta be scary for the rest of the conference.
I like it. I like it a lot.

I work for Halifax County. I'm part of the County Manager's office.
Am currently in Nags Head on vacation until we're run out by the hurricane. Drove down the Hatteras yesterday and went out on "The Native Son" for some gulf stream fishing. There was 6 of us and only caught 2 wahoo and 1 small mahi. The boat that came in next to us "Bite Me" unloaded a combination of 36 blackfin and yellowfin. Kind of disappoinTed I didn't even get to pick up a fishing rod on our trip but that's fishing. Will be home next week and back to Lake anna for bass and crappie to make me feel a little better.
It told me I could vote again in 4 hours...I'll make sure to get up at 2 am for ya, furrer!
"noticeable swagger" This makes me smile. The team is playing with an attitude and joy rarely seen in the past few years.
Foster and Fuente. BFF's.
I love this website.

This team is hungry after the bye week. Can't wait to see coach Fu and the boys take to the field on saturday!
Thanks for the update. I just saw that the updated weather forecast shows rain for Saturday, and seeing as we're supposed to be giving some friends a tour of the city and many outdoor landmarks, I don't think that'd be much of a good time.
UPDATE: Just canceled the hotel in Charleston and made plans to spend the weekend in Pigeon Forge instead. Weather looks to be good there. The Hokies and Vols play at the same time, so watching the game should be a good time in Northeast Tennessee....
So, to Fuente, the ranking means nothing.
Eh, I don't really think Fuente's quote reaches that conclusion. That quote really is a non-sequitor coach speak statement. He says things, but they don't really say his opinion on the matter.
"Can anyone tell me in Week 5 of last year's season who was ranked and who wasn't?"
Non-sequitor. Unless you have an eidetic memory, of course not. Nobody does, but that doesn't speak to the significance of the situation.
For example, I can ask this question: "Can anyone tell me the security that had the greatest gain in the NYSE the first week of October in 2015?" Again, of course not, but that doesn't speak to the significance of that security, the money the shareholders made that week, and the significance to that's company's quarterly and yearly earning.
There is a lot of significance of being ranked whether anyone remembers it or not. Many others in this forum have stated great reasons on this significance (e.g. exposure, recruiting, building up the ranking for bowl selection), and I truly doubt Fuente is oblivious to these benefits.
Further reading of Fuente's quote reveals only more coach-speak regarding the significance of the meaning:
It may add to more fanfare on the outside about the upcoming game, but not something that we draw a lot of focus on. We've got a tremendous challenge this week in terms of going to North Carolina and trying to find a way to win the game.
Extracting Fuente's true feeling towards the ranking from that quote is a fool's errand. He is, however, motivating his team to focus on the next task at hand, beating UNC.
May I ask what field you are in?
Larry Fedora puts regular gas in his BMW.
"or"?
Yeah we're going to follow your advice and avoid the OBX. Really bad situation brewing for those in it's path. I'm gonna stay up in my mountains away from this. Thanks eshiben, really appreciate all the feedback and looking forward to reading your in-depth write up!
RAIN OR SHINE!
Yeah, I miss the days when the bye would fall before a Thursday night game. Thanks ACC.
Eshiben, how about Roanoke Rapids, NC. Let me know if I'll have a weekend or I'll be spending it all weekend at the EOC. Much appreciated.
