They don't pass tests as a rule. Sort of against their culture.
I don't have a problem with an analytical coach that knows going into a game that if say against team X, 92% of the time an 8+ point lead in the third qtr=win.....
That allows for some adjustments once that threshold is met.
But telling/telegraphing that strategy to the players is problematic because your players should stay maximally engaged until time runs out.

He put it in there to lend some weight to his statement. Anytime anyone posts something on there the auto response is "source?". He was preempting that response. You aren't the sources police and don't need to jump on him.
So the ends justify the means?
Not that there is anything at all wrong with a 17-10 win, if the offense could legitimately only put 17 on the board. But a 54-10 win gets your offense that much more tuned up than a 17-10 win.
Games don't exist in a vacuum. The season builds, game after game, until you get the team to where you want it to be. Calling off the offense, out of either a sense of sportsmanship or a concern about offensive mistakes costing you the win, is ultimately self defeating.
Mook Reynolds is making this defense work right now. He's playing better than we have had a defender play in a long time. Like Cody Grimm, all over the field.
Computers seem to really like UNC still. They are not passing the eye test.

You could have left the parenthetical statement out and it would have been fine.
You know how when you tell a kid not to do something the first thing that kid wants to do is that thing you told them not to do? It's a psychological truth that human beings are curious and tempted to try things they're told not to do.
Next time just say you have #sauces that say ...(whatever news you want to share) .... and be done with it

Even a business major knows there's a fly in the ointment on this calculation. I agree.
My point is, there should never even be an "at least." All that does is set an arbitrary threshold that can instill a false sense of confidence if met. The question of "Should we try to score on this drive?" should never be asked. The answer is always yes.

I get what you're saying but I'm with Illinois on this
it's not as simple as "the offense just couldn't get the 24 points Frank said they needed"
the problem runs much deeper than that. It was a cultural issue more than anything and the culture, set by Frank, is that we don't need to score every possession..we need to score 24 points and then run the clock out. That was fine 15-20 years ago but as offenses and rules have evolved the game has shifted to favor offensive performance over ball control. The culture that Frank instilled was overrun by the evolution of the game and that needed to change. It didn't. Now we have a new staff with a different culture and we're reaping the benefits.
Michigan State -5.5 -- Beating LSU at Lambeau should not get one admitted to the top 15.
Pittsburgh +7.5 -- Pitt can score these days, who knew?
Tennessee -6.5 -- I can't see UF getting more than 10.
Penn State +19.5 -- I don't like what PSU has going on up there, but they can score. 19.5 is too much.
Stanford -3.5 -- 3.5 is way too low.
Texas A&M -5.5 -- Uggh, why did you pick this game? This is the battle for the title of 2nd Best SEC Team.
