I thought it was interesting that Shegog was getting playing time on those 3rd and long packages. Defensive tackle got subbed out, Trevon often was brought in, Edmunds on the edge (I think) and Shegog in a linebacker role, seemed a little different than usual.

I agree actually. Stiney was actually a great OC and a great recruiter. One of the reasons we started recruiting badly was once he got off staff.
Exactly what I was thinking regarding Tempo. I haven't been able to watch any of the games (saw BOB live but couldn't see anything). How do our RBs look heading into the second half? Are they fresh or do they look tired? I do remember the few snippets I've seen and Bucky has his hands on his hips. 1, 5, 7 are playing every down and have got to get tired in this tempo. If we can keep the RBs fresh and hungry, all the better for our O.

You can't bake a cake without the right ingredients, and he certainly didn't have it. Again you can talk to him perhaps having too complicated a system for CFB and I might agree with you, but he certainly for sure he didn't run the offense "deeper in the ditch it was in".
Also, Bucky was a TE. And as soon as Lefty was brought in he instantly knew that he was not QB material and moved him to TE/WR. Us having a dearth of talent forced him to get Brewer, Durkin, and Ford. You can thank him for seeing we didn't have the horses and bring in new talent. Re: specific guys - it was him who helped organize and increase recruiting which led to people wanting to come and play for us. You think Moorehead was the reason Ford wanted to play at Tech? Please. Same with Cam.
No one's being an apologist, I just know i'm rationale enough to understand the position we were in and how bad off the previous regime had left us. If you're expecting him to make wine out of water then of course you're going to be disappointed. And lest you forget he actually increased offensive production while he was here save one year. No need to blindly rage at him.

*EDIT* I'm not saying I'm taking ECU lightly. They're a dangerous team and they've had our number the past couple of years. They have a very real chance to beat us yet again on Saturday. That said, I have all the faith in the world in Fuente getting his guys fired up to play well against a team that's beaten them twice in a row.
2 guesses, 1) it's easier for the team to find him for play calls. 2) so that lefty couldn't see the hand motions he was giving from the sidelines.

I'm quite positive ECU is not the only team with this game circled. Tech's players are tired of losing to ECU, just as we are. I'm sure Fuente and Foster are gonna have them ready to go.
S. Car. was only a 2-pt favorite in Columbia. ECU probably should have been favored, and definitely would have if they were the home team. The S. Car. D is not suppose to be great.
Nevertheless, the ECU offense is formidable. Bud knows this. Should be a real good test to see if this VT defense is one of the historically better units.
I'm sure that Lefty stated that we're lacking in depth. He's talked to the fact that he hated playing Ford so many snaps per game as he did, but considering we had Deon Newsome (now a DB) and other ppl that really didn' t make an impact at all - what choice did he have?
