Outscheming is 100% on the coaches. Outplaying is 100% (well, maybe not 100% but close) on the players. Boom. Separated.

I don't really agree with the original comment, though. The team played their balls off--one of the best efforts I have seen at any level ever--while at the same time both Bud and Lefty had career games. I think Tech both outplayed and outschemed the Buckeyes. So maybe I kinda agree with you.

French - These are absolutely brilliant pieces of prose and analysis. The avid football fan, but novice football mind in me really appreciates your work. I might sit here read the text, watch the clip, repeat x3, but I always leave understanding it and *seeing* exactly what you wrote... my own aha moment. It significantly improves my understanding of the full picture and the entire game on the field. Keep up the stellar work, sir!

Disagree on Hill being the best player on the team. JMO I think Leday and maybe Allen are better. And a lot of teams are starting to bring some of their top players off the bench. Depending on what kind of lineup they want to run it might be better to let him lead the 2nd team. Think Manu on the Spurs

I took that as an aside, like "Yeah, BGSU was really good on offense against us last year but it didn't matter because we scored 59." Not the cause/effect that is being inferred herein.

If you want to be confident, think of UT saying VT is like BGSU's offense but we still have a Bud Foster defense. Even in a down year, we had a top 40 defense.

Dobbs was crushed, there was nothing intentional about this. That's like saying I threw up on the Intimidator because I was worried about my gluten intake.
